Default How to remove valve cover?

I already searched and couldn't find anything. I need to remove my valve cover and also reinstall it. Can anyone give me detailed instructions and what to do? Also what materials and tools I will need? TIA

There are a couple of bolts you can see from the top of the valve cover. Undo them and then pull the valve cover off (after you pull the spark plugs). I'd pick up a new gasket incase you rip the one you have on there. Also, retorque the bolts to 7.2 ft/lbs.

DONT OVERTIGHTEN THEM OR YOU ARE GOING TO END UP WITH A STUD BROKEN OFF IN THE HEAD!!! I've seen a few too many of those threads already.

Don't all the spark plugs have to go in the same spots again?

umm...the wires have to go back into the same spots..but you can put a plug from cylinder one back into whatever cylinder you want. All of them should be seeing the same wear anyways.

Seems weird to me that you keep giving out misinformation and have twice as many posts as him.

No, the plugs are universal, as I already said.

And btw, we all had to start somewhere. I still ask n00b questions and have a ton of posts. When are you guys going to find out that post count means dick?

I was pretty sure that I already knew how to do it but I would rather ask a dumb question to make sure than not ask at all and **** it up. Now I see why your post count is up to where it is because you post stupid **** comments like this in people's threads where they are trying to get help.

damn Ricey you got a lot of posts. Yea definantely make sure you don't torque those bolts down too tight. I broke one before and my friend has broken one by working on my car. Also they are a biatch to get out of the head

not sure which one your's is in the picture.

Tools
1. Beer
2. 10mm socket with an extension
3. Hands (two preferably)
4. did I say beer?

Removal Procedure
1. Remove the bolts
2. Remove the spark plug wires
3. Drink beer
4. Pull up on the valve cover as you move it side to side/up and down (kind of a rocking motion to losen it. You don't want it to come flying off and knock over your beer)
5. Check the valve cover seal to see if it needs to be replaced, you can tell if it is cracked.
6. Place valve cover on a clean towel
7. Finish beer

Installation procedure
1. Clean the surface that the valve cover seal sits on (the seal itself and the top of the head.
2. Place small dabs of Honda Bond at the corners where your cam seals and distributor are. (Basically at the base of the half moons on your valve cover)
3. Open the other beer
4. Place the valve cover on the head. Be sure the holes are lined up.
5. Replace spark plug wires
6. Replace bolts. Torque them down to approx 7 ft lbs. (Basically Hand tight. You don't need to crank on these things like Godzilla.)
7. Finish your beer in success!!

I have probably left out key parts, like pissing and what not. I think you can figure the rest out.

also, if you over tighten, you may end up with a stripped out stud hole in the head. (i have one now... not my fault though)
