supercharge better than turbo...?
hello every1...for a 97 lude with 100k miles. im planning to build the bottom end very soon, and will be driving it daily maybe around 20-25 miles a day..will turbo be reliable with daily driving or supercharge will be better of for me?...im not really going for a lot of power..just enough to give me some extra umph..! does it consume alot of gas if i put turbo on or a supercharger...? which will be much more reliable...? thanks everybody...! any feedback will be appreciated...thanks..!
i know that theres alot more u can do with putting on a turbo rather than a supercharger. but is it still ok to boos a 100k engine after rebuild and all..or i dont have to build the engine anymore if im only putting a supercharger..? im not aiming for high hp's just a reliable daily driven car that has that extra boost...can u guys help me out..how much am i going to spend on supercharger kits...? what other stuff do i need to get as far as fuel management or anything..? thanks again
supercharger is more practical for an everyday car. like your not gona need 400 or 500 hp getting to work right? lol.. or do you?!
ive heard turbo has more mainteance too

When you are cruising it doesnt pump out 7 psi untill you accelerate for a bit, while the supercharger is running 7 psi the whole time. The supercharger will give you power faster because it does not have to spool up like the turbo. Im no expert but that is my 2 cents.</TD></TR></TABLE>
No on the fuel mileage. The JRSC (the only supercharger kit available) has a bypass valve that loops the blower charge when the engine is operating at vacuum. You are not always boosting.
The JRSC does have a lot of low end torque since it is boost on demand, but you can get basically the same performance from a properly sized turbo. The Greddy kit, for example, spools very quickly and produces over 200 torque to the wheels at only 3k rpm.
GokuSs4, try doing a search, we have a "supercharger vs turbo" thread about once a month here.

THANKS...!

good thinking....learn as much as possible.
both are going to require more matinace since your boosting a na engine. turbo is more bang for buck, more eficcent, much higher capabilities...much better choice imo
hondata or up is a must. under 10# you can get away w/out rebuild...but be saving up. once rebuilt you can boost as much as you build...im going 500 whp min.

thanks..! i think i have enough money set aside already for the motor and the kit..i knw its going to cost alot..i dont care i love my car eventhough it doesnt have much right now...i really want to do everything right, and i want my car to run good whether i put on a turbo or JRSC..i've already got a quote for the motor build up, will that lower comp affect hp gains if i go jrsc...? will my engine last longer with a turbo kit or a jrsc, normal driving daily...? thanks again...!
The reason why Im gong with the jackson is due to the fact that My car is daily driven and I want dependable car.. Less maintence and plus I get to keep my mugen header.

tight
i guess the sc is more reliable..
and less piping too.

last question pls...lets say i decide to build up the motor and lower the compression and decide to go with the JRSC, will the lower compression affect the hp gain from the JRSC..? with all the leakdown and compression test done and everything checks out fine, is it necessary to build up the engine with 100k miles if i put on a JRSC...? THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE...!
if your going to ge jrsc I wouldn't do anything to the internals if they check out ok but if your going to go turbo I would sleeve the motor and lower the comp so when you want you can up the boost. Check out someother peoples turbo setups they can be dependable as any other if done properly by someone that knows how to and no shortcuts are taken
thanks alot for all your info....! im really not aiming for high hp's i just wnt my car to have decent numbers and run right...! thanks again everyone....!
