Buy some good pads - Axxis Ultimates.</TD></TR></TABLE>
good info, but be aware that when you stop better it wears you pads and rotors faster.

yea i know pads are needed...but is there a much greater difference between these 2 rotors stated above with pads than the stock rotors...or is it really just worth getting a complete big brake upgrade...?

I think you missed what i was saying.
There's not really any "upgrade" in rotors unless you want them for the bling factor, but they wont stop you faster. Better brake pads will however. I recommend axxis ultimates for the street.
Just because they stop the car faster does not mean they will wear your rotors faster either.

In my case I went with the Cobalt Friction GT Sport and the stopping was amazing over stock. The brake would grab the rotor and stop the car quickly. But I had to sacrafice the rotor for it.
4 months later the pad was worn down and the rotors had to be turned.
I am now looking for Axxis ultimates brake pads, or maybe a complete big brake kit.

What RJ is trying to say is that you will get a lot of braking improvement if you simply upgrade the tires and pads. If you get bigger brakes they're not going to help much if you don't upgrade the tires as well.

so then all these companies make these big *** rotors with slots and drills in them 100% for display only...i cant believe that.
Porsches come with drilled rotors for example. and that offers no more of a stopping additive over a full faced rotor?

The reason rotors are drilled on some racecars is to be able to vent hot gases when the rotor reaches extreme temperatures (race track temps). The caveat is that the rotor has to be of sufficient thickness and quality so it won't crack. If you get a cheap cross-drilled rotor and get it up to temp you are going to see spider cracks pretty quickly, if not full blown destroyed rotors.

Well you better believe it. Tires stop the car. Your brakes stop your wheels. Bigger brakes serve only one purpose - a bigger heat sink. They wont stop you faster, only better tires and better pads will - unless you increase the amount of friction or traction, you wont stop faster. There are some brake articles linked in the RR/AX forum FAQ.

Porsche claims that the drilled rotors are for improved stopping power in wet conditions. Thats it. Oh, and their holes are not cast either, but they're a hell of alot better than the junk sold for civics.
