Default ENGINE SWAP

trying to get a sohc vtec into my dohc non vtec. basically a b16 vtec into my ls non vtec. i heard that my tranny will bolt on to the b16 ecause all b seires are compatible. people are telling me that i will need 4 wires going to my ecu to the engine. 2 wires for the vtec solenoid and 2 for the o2 sensor. is that true? also, i heard that my obd1 harness will b compatible wit the b16 .. please help! thanks!

is it possible to put a sohc vtec head on a dohc bottom end?

I think what your talking about is putting on a dohc vtec head on your ls bottom end. I dont know a lot about it; but there is some re-rewiring to do; the trannys are interchangeable as long as they are hydro/cable or you convert to one or the other and the axels line up right; depending on the year of your ls will depend on wether or not you cause your your harness....there just some food for though; search and youll find much much more

b16 is a DOHC vtec not SOHC... and i wouldnt waste the money... your car will be to heavy for a 1.6 ... just get a head and go LSVTEC... and yes you have to add wires for the VTEC to work with the new ECU you will be putting in...

there are two vtec models dels sol's. One is the Del Sol Si, which has a d16 sohc vtec. The other is the Del Sol vtec, which has a b16a3 in it. As far as making your car faster.....you gain 20hp, but you lose torque.

Save your money, and do it right the first time.

LS-VTEC will be the only thing that will be worthwhile for you. Gooing b16 will be throwing cash away. You do get more HP, but you have to wait a while for it.

IMO save more cash up and do a proper LS-VTEC or turbo your car.

you sounds like you need too learn alot.I would suggest just too search through different threads.Everyone is going too tell you that you would be a idiot for throwing away your b18 and going too the b16...oh and you said your transmissions match?Yes they do.But a ls tranny with a b16 would be the slowest car ever...Keep your b18b and put a b16 tranny on it

Only $500 to spend? Forget it. If you are going to do it right then it costs at least $200 in just new belts, seals, and "Oh shtuff! I don't have a tool that can do that! Sears, here I come!" runs.

$500 would be tough to get it done with. PM me and we'll talk about the details. I've done the GS-R swap into my LS. I know the problems..
