is a stroker kit even worth it?
im not really down with forced induction and im a little sketchy on N20. i dont wanna swap my engine so the only choice is all motor. i can get a 1.8 stroker kit for about $2500 which is about the same as a turbo kit. my question: is it even worth it? will a stroked b16 even hang with a turboed b16? i know the b16 isnt the best all motor engine but it will have to do. anyone have any comments?
u could invest 2500 a lot smarter then gettin a stroker kit.
upgrade ur valvetrain, get cams, i/m, good header, hondata and u can make good numbers with a b16.
id buy a new motor before id put a stroker kit on a b16. just my .02

If I was you i'd find an Ls bottom end and put the 2.0 liter stroker kit in that youd still end up spending about the same but you would have a 2 liter motor instead of the 1.8 .
$No Props you know who you are!

i fyoure looking for just a normal street car than dont bother stroking it but if its more of a track car or weekend warrior than it is very much worth it to add stroke to your crank..ANY extra displacement helps in any car..if you just build it up the only power increase you will see would be from higher compression, lighter rods and pistons and tighter ring gap..so if youve got your head ported, huge cams etc and your stuck at a certain hp how do you get more hp?bigger bore and longer stroke.
Instead of the stroker kit for $2,500. You could go find an old b18a block somewhere for $75-$100 bucks. Buy high comp 81.5mm pistons of your choice, buy a block girdle, and even some good rods like probe or eagle. Send the crank, block, girdle and pistons out to the machine shop and get it all done right.
Then pull the b16 motor out, pop the head off, do a couple minor things like run and oil line, and plug 1 passage, and mate it to the b16head. Even with arp headstuds, blockgaurd, and bearings etc. I built mine and did everyting for a good bit less that that stroker kit.
Also, you wont have as much downtime because u can still be running the b16 bottemend while the b18 bottem is being machined. That can take sometime, i dont know if your acounting for downtime in your car or not. And to top it off, you can sell the b16 bottem for a few hundred whenever its all said and done!.
Just my 2 cents.
(ps this would be a better setup than a stroked b16 aswell)

use a ls crank get some custom pistons that move the wrist pin up... there ya go dont loose any rod stroke ratio, and voila! you got a 1.8 b16 block
