I used it before.....seems pretty good...
that was back in '98 or so.....since then...ACCORDING to Redline's website...they continually reformulate, so their 10W40 I was using 3years ago is not the same formulation as today's 2001 formula.

Makes me wonder about those shops who have old stock then and continue to sell it at Redline's MRSP.

I guess if it's good enough for the RealTime Racing Type-Rs...it's certainly good enough for all the rest of us.... take it FWIW....since Redline also happens to be a major sponsor....

my car seems to have a voracious appetite for Mobil 1 though. Some other owners I have talked to seem to agree...while others love the stuff..... I can't figure out what is up. Car seems to run best with Amsoil 0W50 though. Barely any burn. I might try Lubromoly next year, perhaps some Motul by recommendation or even LEL.

hey armani this post has nothing to with redline oil, but i can see that you have an 98 ls. How much did it cost for the itr cat-back, and installation? Also with all your mods, how much did you gain performance wise? thanks

I do not trust anything other than Mobil 1 full synthetic. $100 is a lot for oil. You can buy 6qt of Mobil 1 tri synthetic for $22.

Motul, Fina and Respol are all good.
Fina is made by ELF fuels. As of next yr all FIA sanctioned rallies will require to use std racing fuel by ELF.

I bought the ITR from a guy on honda-tech board. 225 off a 2k1 ITR. No modification was needed. I had a friend install it for me. WEll...with the aem and DC headeri felt some gain..but to be honest.....i felt the most gain after installing the TODA flywheel with the ACT 6 pluck clutch. I felt my acceleration has improve alot.
Get a really good quality flywheel like toda or jun and your car will please you.

Thanks for everyones feedback

I just keep changing on what kind of oil i use and by the time I find out what is the best, I think it will be time to buy a new car!!

I have used like 7 different brand of oil in my car, and I am using Moble 1 now. The reason for it is because it is cheaper than the Redline I used to use 2 months ago. Who know, I may change back to Redline or AMS oil after.

I just took my baby to the dealer for a oil change and tire rotation (7500 mi service, ran me about $100). After I got my car back, I started chatting w/ the service manager. I asked for his opinion on synthetic oil vs. petroleum based oils. He said that since people end up changing their oil every 3000 mi., it is not worth the extra cost of synthetic. According to him, and another dealer associate, the advantage of running synthetic oils are their longevity; they take longer to get dirty.

Has anyone heard this before? I've been reading A LOT of posts on motor oils...people changing over to synthetic...etc. However, now I feel that it really is a waste of money...HELP!

Thanks!

I have used Redline 5W-30 in my Integra many times (although I changed it myself and the oil is only 8.00$ a quart at the most around here) NEO is now the only oil I will put in my car. I absolutely love it.

I think a lot of things that were overlooked is the fact that synthetics flow better during cold startup....are far more resistant to breakdown under extreme loads and have all the goodies in their formulation for extra protection..
I can't say Synthetic is worth it if you drive your R on the street like a Tercel.....but then again the people who bought their Rs drive them in part to enjoy them right?

And man.....what's wrong with 0W50?

Thin as water and has good shear stability....!

Bad BAD BAD. There is no way you get $100 for oil change!

4 bottles of Redline 5-30w $7 x 4 = 30 (tax n' ****)
OEM Honda filter $10 with tax

Are you telling me a labor cost $60? Man, you gotta find some mechanics that you are familiar with. My mechanic only charge me $10 to change oil if I supply all the parts. You can probably do it too by jacks, but it's gonna be messy the first time you do it.

Does Redline helps?........hmm.....when I have Mobil 1, I always have smells some oil when I play around in the redline zone, but with Redline the car is smooth and no odor. It maybe some left over oil underneath the car that gets boiled but....high price=good product and.....only good stuff for the R.

Tried Redline 5W30, car burned it like there was no tomorrow. Mechanic suggested Agip Synthetic 10W30 and I haven't burned a drop since. Might try Mobil 1 synthetic 5W30 next time.

Yeah, 5w30 or 10w30 weight is the best for our cars.
Most people like mobil1 tri synthetic.

If you really wanted to get extra protection, and spend money, I would get a pre oiler. Pumps up oil pressure before engine starts.

I like the Agip logo and the fact you see their banner at all the cool european races...

$100 for a oil change huh? Someone must be really rich. Redline motor oil like someone say should be $8 a quart(x4) w/tax = around $35, plus a oil filter.
Anyone who paid $10 for a Honda OEM filter got ripped off, they can be bought for $5 and less sometimes. You could of bought the stuff seperately and bought them to a local indepent mechanic who can change the oil with your own oil for $10-$20. Compare the savings.......................

You are better off changing you oil w/Mobil 1 Syntethic, it's cheaper and offers excellent protection also. New Porsche off the factory come w/mobil 1 oil.

Well, just to keep it short, yes you got ripped off, yes the place that you got it changed at is laughing at you and saying how stupid you are. Well, but if you are really rich, then go ahead with the $100 oil change, but I highly you go with mobil 1 and a OEM filter. 5quart gallon of mobil 1 can be bought for less then $20.
And even if you do insist on only Redline, at least buy the stuff yourself and bring it to any mechanic shop who can change it with your own oil.

And ask for how long the Redline should last, I have heard many different range interval. Some say 3000-5000. Some say it can go up to 10000, but easiest way to tell is just pull out the oil stick. If it's light brown, then it probably doesn't need changing, it it's medium brown to black, then yeah, you might want to change it.
