Default 195/55/15 Azenis???

Are there any shops that are importing them? Price? I recently seen them on a EG Civic with ITR wheels. Either there is a shop importing them or the wheels came from overseas with the 195/55/15 Azenis (They were pretty meaty, almost new)

they don't make them in that size

most people run the 205/50/15's on their ITR's

Yes they do.

Everybody with 15 inch wheels have 205/50 because that is what Falken imports into the country. 195/55/15 are available outside of this country. Just wondering what shop is importing the 195/55/15.

If you're going to go through the trouble of importing a tire, it would have to be a damn good set. I wouldn't mess around with importing Azenis, but I would be interested in importing something crazy like Advan Neova AD07's.

Now there's an idea!

I'll finally get a chance to try out some Dunlop D01J's that I've had sitting around for a while, this spring.

I understand and agree with you about the troubles of importing tires.

The fact that I saw them in the U.S. implies that some shop did go through the trouble to import Azenis, and if they did, they for sure did not import just one (or even a couple of sets), They must of imported a whole boat load. THATS WHY IM ASKING. There may very well be a shop with a warehouse full of the 195/55/15 Azenis. Perfect size for my ITR wheels. But of course, if you know of a shop that had the Neova's in the same size I would jump on those.

I doubt it!
Too much of an inventment for a mediocre product in a size not many would buy.
Order them yourself from JDM land.
Sad part is they'll probably cost you as much as race tire then!

There was a guy on here a few months ago that had a lot of sets of Neova's, and they weren't expensive either. But apparently Mario can get them, so not to worry.

I'd personally be careful running non-DOT approved tires.

You wreck, your insurance co comes to take a look at your wrecked car with non-DOT tires on it - you're totally screwed.

Sorry, but I don't think they'll even notice unless they're bald.
Even then it might not be an issue depending on the real cause of the accident and who's at fault.

Ed -- who wrecked on Azenis and was wondering what they'd say.

I've actually heard of people wrecking on slicks and their insurance still paying for it.

But falkens, hoosiers, toyo RA-1's, Kumho Victoracers, etc, are DOT approved....

I wouldn't chance it. A thorough insurance agent would check the condition of the tires and inevitably notice what brand/model they were. And when he sees 'advan neova' and thinks 'hum, never seen/heard of those...', that might be a problem.

For me.. better safe than sorry. You might never have a problem, I agree Ed, but someone might, better to let people know there is a possibility of a problem.

Why? They are DOT legal.

Unless...

[crowd jeers] How Bald Were They Ed? [/crowd jeers]

Anton who's RE010's were paper thin when he wrecked his first R, in the rain, avoiding a deer, into a cement divider, too stupidly fast.

Live and learn the hard way, is my motto I guess.

Well ... because NTB charged me extra to mount them on "alloys" and the manager "grilled" me about them being some type of drag radials.

Oh, forgot to answer the question ... they were virtually brand new.
And it was dry out (I HATE those tires)!

I was actually referencing a Cobra that wrecked while driving on the street with Mickey Thompson drag slicks on the back wheels. His insurance paid for everything.

Further cementing my point that non-DOT = bad.

I personally think that tires shouldn't be "DOT rated," but rather the insurance adjuster should make a decision as to whether they had anything to do with the accident or not. Some non-DOT tires (such as the Neova AD-07) would actually be some of the best tires to have in an accident situation, wet or dry.
