Nope, just trying to weed out the useless responses...which is now up to 4...

If it's stainless steel, why would it rust? Dunno what to tell you besides keep it clean...or coat it with some high temp paint.

And you're not helping either.

It will probably accumulate some light surface rust over time.

There is some "bar B Q" paint that you can get at your local advance/autozone .. it turns out to be a nice shade of gray aftertime.. and it keeps it from looking "rusty" .. but you shouldn't have problems outta that header in the first place..

I checked the members list. There is no "RiceBoi 599" here on Honda-Tech (well not one with that exact spelling anyway).

I don't think it's completely ss. I thought it was mild steel?

Anyways, do what RJ says. Jet hot coating

Use metal polish and polish it everytime you wash your car.

Definately for Jet Hot. But if you can't afford it, just get some of that ceramic based spray paint. It seems to work fairly well.

I used that on my an-r header. Worst recent waste of my time.
It just rusted right on top of the paint, it looks like crap.

Just for a testimnial, it took more than a year for any rust to even start appearing, i would just have the welds changed out and jet hot coated, w/ a fastline performance skidplate, and you'll have IMO the best all around header possible

Have it coated. Jet Hot, or something like that.

Hi,

Some stainless steels rust, just not as fast as carbon steels. Depends upon chrome and nickle content, etc, etc.

Step one: Sandblast
Step two: Ceramic coat at a coater (Jet Hot, Airborn, etc).

Most coaters will prepare surface for you.

Cheap way out is to roughen the surface, clean beyond thoroughly (removing ANY oils) then coat with VHT Flameproof. heat in some sort of oven if possible or heat slowly and repeatedly on car. See instructions on can.

VHT works pretty well done properly.

That's one of the worst things to do. I wrapped my JDM header and now it looks like it was on the car for 20 years. All wrap will do is speed up the corrosion process and increase the potential for cracks ... trust me, I just ordered a new header a couple of weeks ago.
