xenons
okay im no headlight guru so i have a few questions...
if you put xenon lamps in your car, do you need some sort of converter thing? i know 4g ludes run 9005-variant lamps, and i know the halogens are 65W and i think 9.5 volt...ive found Eiko Super White True Xenon lamps that should fit the plug thingy, they're 65W/9.5V also....then i looked around and found Hella 9005 xenons that were 100W and 12V...the plug thingy also looked bigger in diameter...my question is what are the absolute Brightest headlights i can put in my car, and do i need some sort of a kit? are HID's brighter than xenons (or are they the same thing?)? where would i find them? any info is helpful, thanks

haha. I guess I'll take this one since I never post here.
Real/OEM xenon or High-Intensity-Discharge lamps require high voltage transformers to run.
You will only find them in the D2S (projector) and D2R (reflector) varieties. There are very few exceptions to this like the D1S type.
The kits that are now illegal just take those Phillips or Osram lamps and rebase them to fit halogen style mounting bases. Even if done correctly, it will yield terrible results for real lighting enthusiests.
The bulbs you are likely talking about and confusing with real HID systems are just halogen bulbs that may claim to have a gaseous cocktail which includes xenon, but these are nothing like what is described above. The colored light you get out of these things will be absorbed be the asphault and you will see less than stock bulbs give you. There are some reputable companies that sell brighter halogen bulbs like Sylvania Silverstars and Phillips Vision Plus, but you're not going to get those are you?
The brightest usable light will come from OEM HID equipment custom retrofitted into your headlamps
The next best are from the bulbs like I mentioned along with a wiring harness that provides the bulbs with current directly from the battery, and only uses the stock wiring to activate the harness relay.
Most people spend hundreds of dollars sampling all the popular pretty lights sold at tuner shops before getting real and getting a good lighting solution.
I decided to install OEM HID projectors from an X5 and put them into my headlights. There is no better solution for the 5th gen although there are better projectors out there and certainly cheaper ways to go with halogen lamps.
