installing speaker
hi, this is my first attempt at installing speakers.. i was wondering how to tell if i am able to just pop the grill on the door panel out?
"In many cars, door speakers are the easiest to replace. In many newer cars, manufacturers have notched a slot into the edge of the grille. All you have to do is take a screwdriver, pop out the grille, and unmount the factory speaker."
I took a flathead screwdriver and gently tried to pry it open.. it does open kinda of where i apply force, but on the other side doesnt move. waahh.. i dont wanna remove the door panel

Advice on taking off door panel. very easy:
1) Unscrew 2 screws: One is behind the plastic tab by the door handle and the other is inside the armrest.
2) Pull off the plastic-pin, which is right underneath the mirror cover garnish.
3) Pull off the mirror cover garnish.
4) Grasp the door handle and slide from right to left and out. You will see a small wire harness and a thin lock rod held in place by a plastic snap-in. Slide the plastic snap-in off of the metal rod. Take off the metal rod from the door handle...the handle will now be fully off from the door.
5)Grasp the bottom of the door panel and give a good yank, all of the push-pins will strat popping from the metal door.
6) Slide the panel off of the door itself, and unhook all of the remaining harnesses.
7) # of harnesses per door:
Passenger Door: 3 (1 for the courtesy light, one for the power window control, and one for the door lock)
Driver's door: 6 (1 for the courtesy light, 1 for the door lock, 1 for the security LED light, 3 grouped together for (window control, window safety lock switch, and side view mirror control)
After you take off the panels once, it will take you(once you do it over and over again for system tweaks) about 3-4minutes to remove the panel
Good Luck!!!

At the front of the door where the glass "meets" the door there is a plastic cover that "trims" the top of the door skin and hides the wires that go into driver's mirror.
This plastic has a plastic "pin" that is push fit and hides something - I can't remember what but you have to remove it. The plastic cover is then only held on by sharp spring steel tabs molded into the cover that insert into slots in the door. You have to pull this panel "straight off" to remove it. It will sound like you are breaking it while you are trying to remove it. This is normal.
Hav fun

ok, i think i know what your talking about now. The plastic cover in front of the side view mirrow? I dont see any plastic pin though, i'll sit in my car and stare at it for a few minutes, maybe it will pop out at me
You don't have power mirrors?
That changes things a liitle. The plastic pin you are looking for is in a different location than we thought but it is there. Just below and in front of the mirror is the pin. Simply pull it out to release the front of the door skin.
The problem you have is the mirror trim and actuator are in the way. Or is it?
If I remember right , after you have all the clips and screws and rods off the door skin and the door skin is loose, all you have to do is tip the right side of the door up and tip the left side of the door down while pulling the door skin up. This releases the top of the door skin from the top of the door and the door **** and you can disconnect all the electrical connectors and set the door skin aside. The motion of the door skin may just clear the plastic trim you want to remove.
Maybe you don't have to remove the plastic cover and mirror actuator.
Honda makes thing easy to go together so they usually come apart just as easily.
The mirror actuator probably threads in. Did you try turning the actuator to see if it loosened? I bet once that **** is out of the way you can pull that plastic straight forward and off the door.
Having troubles this early on the game is not a good sign.
Wait until you try to figure out how to mount your new speakers. Careful the speakers aren't too deep or the window will hit the speaker magnet on the way down. They most certainly will be deeper than the original Honda speaker if the new speaker has any ***** to it. So when you try to space the speakers with standoffs or whatever magical plan you come up with be careful you don't damage the integrity of the speaker and screw up your sound quality. Your fasteners can warp the frame of the speaker and stress it , if you aren't careful, and degrade the quality of the sound coming from those nice new shiny speakers. I have seen too many speaker installations where washers have compressed the outer dampening ring on speakers. The speakers didn't move like they should have so they sounded like crap.
Be careful and take your time is all I can say. Good luck. You need it.

skiier, obviously you know what your talking about, and you are a smart guy. Thanks alot for all your help. Can i get your email to ask you some more questions? Im assumming the pin is that in the first pic, lower/mid left, its kinda hard to take out. Havent been able to yet, but i will try again when i go back home. thanks again
Slide something behind the pin on either side to pull it fwd. Think in terms of "prybar" or the "hooked" side of the hammer. Don't actually use these tools but think of the same type of leverage needed. Perhaps the dull sides of 2 butter knifes behind the plastic pin "head" might work. Put some cardboard behind the knives so you don't damage the door skin. I've removed mine my so many times that I can just "pull and push" the door skin near the plastic pin and the plastic pin comes out enough to grab it and pull it out . Alternatively, you could just grab the pin with some pliers and pull it straight forward. But the pliers would probably wreck the "face" of the pin and make the pin look like crap.
Just pull it somehow. It will come off.

Ok I will see if I can find anything in my manual. I have power windows. Sorry I don't know how to take the **** off. But I bet all you have to do is get something behind the handle and pull it straight forward.
