As the title says...I suddenly recieved 5,000$. I'm looking to spend it on a B18c5, I'm a little skeptical about buying motors online. I just wanted to know from you guys' experience what is the most reputable site to by swaps online ?
P.S. To all "search" ******: I'm looking for the best site now, not the best site 6 months ago, so keep your comments to yourself..thank you

jdmmotors.com or soemthing like that is a good source I hear.
But, why buy a B18c5, when you can buld a B18c1 to be stronger than the 5?
You can drop 3k$ into a GSR motor and have one hell of a motor, with $2K left over for your hytech exhaust system...

There is nothing wrong with buying motors online if the seller is reputable. I think there is one called http://www.hmotorsonline.com
Buy an H22 for 2000 and spend the other 3000 on a turbo. You will be much happier. Go with http://www.hmotorsonline.com for sure.
Damn where exactly are you running?
No really this looks like your best place to start

I've never purchased a motor online, but I have heard good things about that Hmotorsonline

The c1 is a kickass motor, but mine is around 165,000, and I guess it kinds seems like taking a step backward if I go with the GS-R motor again......I guess I'm just lookin for something new

you already got a c1?? dude, you need to just rebuild that.
if you wanna go allmotor(which ill just assume for now)
then just throw in some nice sleeves, bore it to 2.0, throw in some rods and high
compression pistons. rebuild the head a little, cams valvetrain. and essentially
you will have a 'new' motor which will be much faster than a c5 and you will
end up spending a less!
dont get the c5!!!!IMO

I have to agree... I would take those $5k and use it on the current motor... you will be much faster and happier than with the c5, not to mention with a c5 you would have to start pretty much from scratch if you want to modify it.
In any case... here's another reputable source for motors: http://www.ardperformance.com

Another thing to add that hasn't been mentioned yet I believe is that the C5 also makes use of the close-geared Type R tranny. It's not so much that it has more power, but that the power is being utilized more efficiently. So like everyone else was saying, re-build your C1, then get the R tranny. There's no real advantage to having the C5, it just starts off with a lil' more power. It might be something to do if your engine absolutely tanked, but it doesn't sound like it did.
Dude, if you want the ITR motor, get it. Your car, your money, But it depends what you are after. If you just want a GSR with a swap that is pretty fast, do the swap. You want a GSR that will destroy alot of things, build up ure C1, and get the ITR tranny. I think that would be cooler, but yea I also like the idea of buying the swap and then selling ure gsr motor and putting bolt-ons on the r motor.
Hmm... if you're thinking K20, then I'm all for that. A K20 would be absolutely sick. It might start out like a C5, but it's just beginning to show its potential. I think HASport is making mounts for it, but I'm not sure about the header/intake situation going on with it though.

Yes, and you won't have to spend $1000 or whatever it costs for the K20 mounts. The K20 is a sick motor that responds well to mods but it is hella pricey.

well this one website has them for 4900 $ ...I know that there are a few peopl around with K20s in Dc2s but the swap is pretty much still in the expiremental stage and that sucks. Something about intakes mannifolds and exhaust manifolds not fitting or something, along with having to rewire all new electronics........

Not true. There are plug and play wiring harnesses, and only the header and intake have fitment issues. Being that the header is most likely going to be replaced anyway, it works in your favor and an autozone intake, or even just a piece of pipe will work for the intake. Don't plan on getting a K20 swap in the car and running for less than $5000 though. I'll have one in my ITR this summer and the final cost will be somewhere around $8000. I like the H22 idea the best.
