need help: brakes project
Hey everyone, I am taking an automotive brakes class at school and have a quarter project due on the 15th...problem is, I can't think of anything to do for it. The project can pretty much be anything that has to do with a brakes system. Anything you guys coud throw out for me to do would be greatly appreciated (try to keep a low, low, low budget in mind). Thanks again,
Jeff

c'mon guys, everyone here at honda-tech is more creative than that...I am looking for some sort of hands on thing i could do for a project to provide information that would be educational for others.
I just finished rebuilding and painting all 4 of my calipers ('90 teg). A few bucks for new piston seals and boots is WAY better than $65 each for reman.
Good luck on your project!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say, that's not the kinda project
he's looking for.

How about a brake test showing just how crappy aftermarket rotors are?
Measure the brake temps of various rotors side to side, you can even measure cro$$-drilled/$lotted and prove that they are a load of BS. You could even test rusted to hell rotors.
I find Honda rotors are the heaviest (biggest heatsink/best) rotor out there (even the Brembo's are not as good) and thus, give the lowest temp's. But that is just my findings.

why don't you do something like explain how a brake master cylinder works ?
or explain the logic behind groves, slots, and cross-drilled rotors ?
Maybe you could explain the benefits of stainless steel lines ?

He wanted "anything that has to do with a brake system." That pretty much leaves the topic WIDE open.
Furthermore, it has to be "hands-on" with a "low, low, low budget."
Just trying to stick to his stipulations.
The suggestions so far are good. What's yours?

Something cheap might be running a cooling system. You can do this by running some dryer ducting of some sort to the brakes from an opening in the front bumper. You could pretty much get all the stuff you need for this cheap and at Home Depot and you could then explain the benefit of cooling them off. Hope this helps.
That's a "cool" suggestion, pun intended.
You might want to run it by _Creep first, though. He seems to be the one deciding for member boostinb20vtec whether or not our suggestions are legit.
By the way, there are side wings for the front side bumper that serve this purpose. You could easily buy the stuff from Home Depot for these and fabricate them yourself.
