HONDATA ECU FLASH OR EXHAUST???
Definitely Hondata, especially if you already have a cold air intake. The gains are apparently tremendous. I haven't experienced it first hand, but you might want to check hondata.com for a couple of reviews.
yea ive been on thei site. i def want it but how long does it take for the whole procedure to happen?? is it easy to take out the ecu? and where or who should i go to about getttin it. hondata said i have to go through a dealer but there are so many. and im not sure if clubrsx takes credit cards
It is really easy to do. They tell you how to remove the parts on the site.

PM or email me for price and procedure for shipping the ECU, immobilizer and key.
Hondata is by far the best mod you will do to your RSX.
Thanks,
Tom

look at it this way
Hondata- $595, 12-20 hp gain, install takes 10 minutes
Exhaust- $300-600, 3-8 hp gain, install takes an hour or so
hondata all the way man

Hondata... In December I dyno'd my car (02-TypeS) and the only modifications I had done at that point was an AEM CAI, and the Hondata reflash.... I dyno'd at 195Hp, and I dont really remember the torque(it was significantly more, but cant find my dyno sheet).... thats almost 35HP over stock at 91 octane fuel (damn California swill). It is not difficult to remove the ecu and the immobilizer, and if you time it right, you should only be without those compents for a little over 36 - 40 hours... Now I cant guarantee that you'll get the same response, or the same power gain I got. Its possible that my car was running real well that day.... I just know that the Hondata reflash was the best choice I made...
Ok just to give a different option here guys, hows about getting the exhaust done, (improved midrange and killer sound) and then save a few more pennies up then get the reprogrammable Hondata, and get it mapped to the exhaust, save doing the ECU then having to remap when you get the exhaust, which you are bound to still do.
It's what I have done, just waiting for the Reprogrammable ECU to hit our shores. Oh and just out of interest we had a RR day recently and my EP3 Type-R made 173.5 at the hubs (Blitz Sonic and Magnex catback zorst) only 2 bhp less than an identicle ride with same mods plus Hondata reflash. Not that you can read to much from that as Im not sure what he made stock.

if you're choosing between the two then it's a no-brainer, hondata. it provides appreciable gains over the entire powerband. especially low-end/mid-range.
like i replied in your other thread, the catalytic converter is the most restrictive part of the exhaust system. you won't realize full potential from a cat-back exhaust until you change to a race header at most or a high flow cat at minimum, or combination between the two mentioned. i have hondata and when i changed just my exhaust, performance increase was minimal at best. i realized an appreciable difference after installing a high flow cat.
seems like you really want the exhaust for sound and looks. it really doesn't matter that much what you do first because eventually you'll probably have both.

Be careful when taking the ECU cover off, those clips are a bit of a pita if you aren't careful. The rest is a breeze. Good choice going through Tom. Great guy, great shop, great service.

I'd recommend the Hondata with a custom-made midpipe for around $700 total. You won't regret it.</TD></TR></TABLE>
As for you, how is having an exhaust rice (unless you get something like the Tanabe Racing Medallion or the Magnaflow hehehe)? Most people know that getting an exhaust isn't going to dramatically improve performance, if at all at first. However getting a "tuned" exhaust note and finishing off the look of the car is always a bonus, also the more mods you do, the bigger bottleneck the stock exhaust becomes. Doing a custom midpipe is pretty ghetto and still not going to get you the sound or performance of a purposely built exhaust that has had lots of R&D time put into it. Anyways, just my 2 cents.

i know before i said hondata no doubt, but just remember that if ur planning on gettin a race header u might run lean because hondata 4 was not tuned for a race header, then u might have to upgrade to the programmable hondata

That new programmable hondata looks to be pretty nice.
this was taken from clubrsx.
PS the price includes the Hondata Kpro
After 67 pulls on the dyno , and like 10 hours worth of tunning, here is the outcome
267.4 hp at 6 psi.The car gained 50HP from 4000 rpms to 8600. It really pulls like a monster. It feel like I added another turbo( a bigger one)
This is probably the best mod any boosted car can get.( Trust me) but after it was all said and done, it costed me $1851
