Default What is block Decking?

I searched this but i couldnt find anything ...I hear alot about Decking and etc ...but im not exactly what decking is and what its importance is ...and also how the piston to deck height deals with the compression of your ...and info on this would be greatly appriciated ...if this doesnt belong here feel free to move it ..

In the good old days 'decking' a block meant resurfacing/milling it. Now it can also mean putting in a closed deck, either by pressing it in and welding it or by using 'T' shaped cylinder liners.
