Default Best times Ive ever pulled...and they still sucked

Well went to the track friday. This made it my 3rd trip to the track in the R and the first since all of these new mods (JDM header, SMSP cat, 9lb fly, ACT XTSS clutch, and new tires). Old mods were only i/e. We took vids but ill have to put them up tues. when i get to work.

First I lowered the tire pressure down to 23 psi. and revved 5,500, I didnt slip the clutch very well and got some mad wheel hop (my radar detector FLEW off my windsheild)

First run:
60': 2.319
330: 6.289
1/8: 9.524
MPH: 75.83
1000: 12.317
1/4: 14.697
MPH: 93.76

2nd run (tried launching higher around 6,500, still got mad wheel hop, but i dont know how, but this was my best for the night 1/4mi time wise, maybe it was my negative R/T of -.163 ):
60': 2.416
330: 6.291
1/8: 9.511
MPH: 76.07
1000: 12.295
1/4: 14.671
MPH: 94.01

3rd run isnt worth listing, i raised the tire pressure back to 35 psi just to see what would happen and ran a 14.9, with a 60' of 2.5

4th run was my best 60' of the night, and still sucked ***. Lowered the press. down to 20psi and I launched around 6,000, slipped the clutch, but then it bogged down to 4,500. I guess I should have slipped it longer.
60': 2.295
330: 6.297
1/8: 9.535
MPH: 75.80
1000: 12.320
1/4: 14.691
MPH: 94.12

5th run was my best trap of the night (I had added a gallon of 100 octane into the mix, I was fixing to run out of gas)
60': 2.311
330: 6.326
1/8: 9.587
MPH: 75.12
1000: 12.395
1/4: 14.761
MPH: 96.91

6th run i pulled a 2.299 60', but still only ran a 14.770@93.92, oh well.

I weighed in at 2495 w/o me in the car. Next time Ill just have to slip the clutch longer Considering my average last time i was at the track was like a 15.3 these mods have really helped...but on the other hand I ran a 14.878@95.8mph with only and intake. But then it was about 30 degrees cooler and the humidity wasnt a 10th of what it was Fri.

I assume this was at silver dollar?

Keep practicing. When I go (which is very rarely), I get there when they open and get like 3 runs in right after going through tech inspection. You should be able to get ~9 runs before they close. Practice makes perfect. Get some cams + tuning + run open header, and you should be able to drop .5 off your et.

practice. i would try launching a lilttle lower.. 5000-5500, drop the clutch and feather the gas a tiny bit, then go wide open when the tires catch.

i use this method and often pull 2.20-2.25 60fts on Kumho 711 at 32 psi.

try it out next time.

lowering street tire pressure isnt good for high end.. i would just keep them around 30 psi... you're launching at a very high rpm.. this just hurts your clutch when you feather it out..

i just wanna get into VTEC as quickly as possible, which is 5,500 rpms. Thats why i feather it until the road speed equals up to the engine speed. I've figured it out, just havent applied it to the track/real world And with the xtreme pressure plate, im kinda nervous that the lowly ACT street disc is going to **** on me

14.2 @ 98 seems pretty fast for only having an AEM. not saying your lying but a time slip would be cool.

Thats the problem with launching I have .....

I drop clutch step on gas .... its gonna feel like a 4x4 bumpstop meeting...

should I ride clutch ...?

or...

Feather gas ?

Cuz this fine gentleman seems to have the same problem w/ 60 foot times as me.

pretty decent times "98CWITR"....Damn I'd like to run mine just a couple times..thats it.Just to see....but don't care so much about Drag Racing anymore.

14.2 is great...but damn my Friend w/ Toda B's etc,etc only ran 14.2 (granted he only did 1 run) But How's everyone that damn fast STOCK/AEM CAI?

*A diffrent note:

Back in the day on my old GSR I ran a 15.1 @ 98mph--can you belive that!
Lost the slip but I'm sure my 60' was dogshxt----> guess that means had I had good tires..14.2 is what I might have seen?
(JRSC,Tanabe S-med..w/ Ghetto Civic wheels on "Dub caps")

Everyone has different ways of getting a better time.

Your best bet is to KEEP PRACTICING and don't listen to goobers who sit and tell you different ways to launch. You won't learn anything by doing that. Just try different approaches and see what you can do..

keep working on your launch, and you can lower your tires pressures even more (~20 psi). You want to get the car to hook up in vtec - that will yield the best times. Also, make sure you have good, sticky tires... don't worry - your times will come down.

I was able to run a 14.6 in my mostly stock ITR (no power steering, unbolted the stock header)

14.11 w/ JDM header, carsound cat and crappy AO32R's, everything else stock. Full interior, all belts still on the car.

Like mentioned above practice is the key.

60ft....2.1832
1/8et..9.06
1/8mph..80.46
1/4et 14.02
1/4mph 98.77

Did this yesterday at Richmond Dragway. Stock ITR motor in DC2 Integra. The only thing my car has is a cat-back exhaust. This was on street tires(Falken 512) at 22psi. Work on your sixty foot times, it should improve your et.

Forgot to mention, my back seats were taken out too.

nice times. You seem to be lacking after the 60'. My best 60' is a 2.18 with a 1/4mile 14.19. My worst 60' was a 2.4 and I still ran a 14.4. I/E 60K on original clutch.Azenis @ 22.5psi..
Try shifting faster and going a little higher in the revs, remember the stock tack reads about 400rpm's higher than it really is. So you should try shifting more towards 9K.

low to mid 13s this year, no question.

My best time to date is 13.8x.
The car is a 97 JDM ITR. Only mods: AEM CAI, 2.5" straight exhaust, Poly bushing (firewall only), stripped interior. Falken Azenis and power steering removed.

The car does 13.9-14.1 consistently with full interior.

The track an old WW11 airstrip made of concrete slabs. There is no asphalt or trackbite, definitely not designed for racing. All events are run in the daytime with temperatures of 90-95F and high Jamaican humudity.

60' = 2.0x
ET = 13.9x
trap ~ 102 mph

I dont have the timeslip with me now. I can post specifics if necessary.

Well the tires I am running are 205/50 Yoko. AVS ES100s and were @ 20psi. I am running Kenji so my revlimiter is @ 9,000rpms (tach reads 9,300) and thats where I was shifting. I was getting a lot of wheelhop in 2nd gear and 3rd too, which might be why my trap speeds are slightly lower than they should be. This ACT clutch just ******* grabs like a beast, Ill just have to slip it longer to deture wheelhop and bogging down. I might go back this Friday as long as the weather doesnt heat up too bad. Ill keep you guys posted.
