Help: Car is getting painted - which route?
Well my car is completely Stripped down to the bone. Not one bolt or wire left on the car... It is going from yellow to CW so yes its a colour change...
My friend is telling me to paint the whole car now... Interior, engine bay, then the outsides with doors, ect...... And then assemble it...
I wanted to shot the engine bay and the interior, then assemble most of it..
And then shoot the outside of the car...
What is the better way to paint the car??
The reason why I dont want to shot the outside right away is because im afraid to scratch it when assembling the car (since ill be bringing parts into the car)
let me know the best way to paint the car???

thanks
Tyler

OT: Damn, I've never seen one stripped that far before.
I would paint it now, that way you can be sure that every detail is perfect. When installing everything, you will have to be more careful, but not to the point where it's too much to worry about. Plus after it dries, you can always tape off sections to prevent damage.

i'm hoping you're going to strip the original paint first and primer :D it is easier to paint it all at once...
When I stripped my EG down like that (and removed rear quarter windows) we did like you said and completely sprayed the interior and engine bay first. Then bolted engine back in and body panels back on and sprayed the exterior before putting everything else back on/in.

ill phil, so you think that is the best way to do it? In steps??
You dont want to strip off the OEM paint....LOL just sand it perfect and then prime!!
I really dont think you have any paint knoledge to be honest!

I think it helped since putting the engine in was my first swap. Otherwise the guy who painted it, didn't have the time to do a full paint job and suggested it to do te motor work.
i think your best bet would be to post this in GDD forum. im sure you will get lots more help from people in here. im sure there is some knowledge in here. but i think there are more people in GDD that know about painting a car in general. being an R, or a bently
WOW that is stripped
but my opinion would be to paint it in seperate stages so, like you said, you take alot less chance of scratching it

yes of course the cracked front windsheild is comming out and yes the hatch will be removed!!!
I'd paint now. No sense in having to do extra work and not get a full body painting just to keep from having to be a little careful witht eh assembly. Unless of course you're really that accident prone
paint it all at once, its the right way to do it. its not too hard to assemble an interior without hurting your exterior. just be careful
good job, i thought i was the only guy with a totally stripped car hehe
