Default cleaning the bore before building

i just got my motor back from the shop, he told me to clean the motor out real good a few times before we actually build it, so im wondering what people are using to clean a freshly honed wall and not ruin it?

i was using scotchbrite pad (green one from publix) but i see some faint vertical scratches that i think it left, so im wondering what i should use to clean this!?

Gasoline, soap & water, Marvel mystery oil. You cannot get it too clean.
