ok i finally got the nut out of my oil pan, and bolted everything back up. so i go to start the car up, and it starts kinda rough and is really loud (woops, didnt change my downpipe gasket..)
then after a couple secs.. white smoke starts coming out in front of my engine and there is a little hint of it coming out my pipe. it smells kinda like plastic/rubber. so i get scared and turned it off.
im thinking im burning antifreeze because when i pulled my oil pan off for the nut, there was anti freeze in there. so i wiped it all off. im gettin really worried that my bottom end is fudged up.
the reason my head was off is because that 3 months ago, i misshifted and bent all 8 of my exhaust valves. but that shouldnt make for any anti freeze in my oil pan should it??? unless i may of screwed something else upp....
Any suggestions on what could be wrong? i will do a compression test prob this tuesday or so.. thanks in advance

did the smoke have a sweet smell like antifreeze?
is your oil a milky brown color?
maybe you have head gasket issues

dont be scared if u see a bit of smoke, as long as it sounds ok, and smooth just let her run tilll warmed up and see how she sounds. Smoke could be the oil ro coolant u driped everywhere when pulling thet head and ****. no biggie. but it should stop eventually too,

the smoke is probably just from the antifreeze on the downpipe. If it is idling rough I would check timing. First check ignition then check cam timing. I just did the same thing. It was such a terrible feeling to miss shift from 5th to 2nd gear going eighty. I bent all my intake and two exhaust.

well i did my compression test.. about 175 across the board. not that great, but o well. fixed the exhaust leak, and now its running fine. it seems to have a problem with overheating. im not sure wats up.. i filled it up with antifreeze and it wont stop overheating.
ill drive around and it'll be fine, then the needle will just start climbing. i just replaced the water pump. the needle will be aabout 3/4 of the way on the guage, wen im at a stoplight, and when i take off it goes back down to a little less than the halfway mark.
it keeps doing this and im gettin relaly irritated. maybe the thermostat is screwed up?
