took about 2hrs. 45 minutes of which was spent trying to get one of th pistons out. all in all a kake job.

i'm guessing you mean why not buy a set of already rebuilt core's? well i'm not sure what they cost but i'm fairly certian it's not as cheap as $20 a side for the rebuild kit.

they are $60 side from autozone, $90 a side from acura. so yes a rebuild kit is probably a better budget option, but these are a lot nicer!

where did you get the rebuild kits from?

looks nice.

the ITR single piston caliper will be much easier to rebuild than the Volvo 4-pot front calipers.

rebuild kits came from A&H.

i would expect 4 pots to be a PITA. each piston is much smaller so the dust boot is much smaller and tougher to work with.

$43.99 for a reman from Pep Boys, which is the cheapest of any of the chains, for everyones info in the future.

I had my caliper apart yesterday about to throw it against a wall. Should have hit up Lance for a quick n easy rebuild!

BTW, if j00 have access to compressed air that time span is significantly shortened. Takes about 1 second/ caliper to pop the piston out.... *wh000sh-plop*

Do j00 kids know who else sells the rebuild kits besides A&H? Dealerships?

Chris - who will order from A&H if no one in the area has anything....

Dealerships should sell it...

01463-ST7-R00 x2

(I only have on baggy left, but I'm assuming there is no left/right designation, it's just seals + 3 kinds of lubricant packets)

Stoopid me, but how do you determine when you need to rebuild them? I'm sure damage, filth and high mileage all play into that court but, someone care to share at what point, how you decide if you need to.

If j00r dust b00t is torn, it would prolly be prudent to rebuild...

unfortunately i don't have a good answer for that. i decided to do mine because during the summer i accidentally bled my brakes without the pads in and both pistons all but fell out of the calipers. some fluid had gotten all over the dust covers and at that point i said if i could make it through the summer i'd rebuild them.

when i rebuilt them and got a good look at the dust covers i noticed they were both dried out and cracked, probably due to the brake fluid.

since you seem to have constant brake problems you might want to consider a rebuild. i think the $40 is worth it just to rule them out of the equation.

Which is why I inquired. I don't however have any leakage, and did not have the same accident as you with the bleeding. My car has maybe 36,000 miles on it with just weekend, autocross and DE's on it. So abuse is a subjective term.

Last time I looked at the calipers I didn't see any issues as described but, I'll check again more closely soon.

On a side note Lance, I have heard of what happened to yours before. **** unfortunately happens.

Best luck.
