from the compression test, im hittin 150 in all cylinders. turbo is out of comission so im going to restart my project and get everything working right.

my current motor seems to run good at 157k+ miles. im sure the rings are going bad because of boost. since i get oil leaks, im sure my headgasket has some kind of tiny leak somewhere along the line.

i was thinking about rebuilding it with new rods and rings. probably slap on a new headgasket.

however, i opted to just get a new b18b motor instead.

what do you think i should do? replace my motor with another motor in good condition (stock)? or should i just rebuild what i have and replace the essential parts?

new headgasket? or should i keep it stock? a friend of mine said stock headgaskets are the best to use for ls turbos.

looks like you already decided. where's the question.
stock head gasket will be best

 

I would replace the motor for a newer B18B.

You'll get more power out of it and it'll probably be easier just to swap the motor than to tear yours apart and replace all the crap that needs to be replaced.

 

just because i decided, doesnt mean i cant change my mind! haha just wanna make sure its the better choice.

is your compression consistent in each cylinder? If so 150 isn't really "horrible".
