Hondata for LS TURBO
Im planning on getting a hondata for my turbo setup. I was wondering if anything is needed to work with hondata like, FMU, fuel pump, safc or boost controller. Will the s100 be good to use?

FMU, SAFC won't be needed.
Fuel pump is recommended but not completely needed per se.
Boost controller is only needed if you want to increase the boost level above what your wastegate spring is set at.

this might be kinda off topic but i gotta ask this question......i have a 97 LS that i plan to boost. i know to go hondata u have to convert to obd-1, and my question is will this affect my emissions here in illinois?
yes you would probalby have to get the conversion harness for obd1...emissions all depends on several things...
1) if you are going to be running a cat or not
2) the tune itself
there could be other issues as well...imo i think turbo needs the least restriction as possible so i dont think iwould ever pass emissions
...im runnin a full 3' and 2 resonators all the way to the rear axle

2) Fuel pump(intank)
3) Bigger Injectors
4) 3 bar map sensor (if you want to run more than 11 psi

hondata you buy, uberdata you download. and its the same thing. vtc_civic on here made 277whp on 10 psi on hondata and 293whp on 10psi with uberdata. (btw this was on a gsr). use the search feature n search for "uberdata" download it and try it out, i did and i lovvvveeeeeee it
I'm curious...Hondata comes with hardware I know, and Uberdata is only software...so do you have to have your laptop in your car at all times when using Uberdata? If so, then it isn't free.
Hondata S200B = $495.
Tuning = approx $300
Laptop = $1000+
Chip Burner = approx $150
Correct me if I'm wrong here though...
Now, about your setup...The S100B will be fine if you don't plan on tuning yourself or using extra features like launch control. If you think you'll want these things in the future, you might as well get the S200B then.

So really it's not free. You have to buy a chip burner and have a laptop. So I's definitely cheaper then hondata but not free. The software is free. Then there's the problem of knowing what your doing.
bro you dont need a laptop. when we did my tuning we didnt use a laptop. all you need is a rom burner which you can get for like $25 if you do a group buy. and the software is free. so yeah id rather spend $25 and have a stand alone then $495 for the hondata and $300-$500 for tuning. but thats just me. i dont know why you guys think you need a laptop but you dont.
and to the person that was talking about hondata and launch control, uberdata has that feature
and chip burners are ALOT less than $150.

I stand corrected then. I'm still learning a lot...so answer me this:
In essence, Uberdata is just a chip you put in your computer? Sure, you use the Uberdata software to set up the chip, but when all is said and done, all you have is a socketed ECU with a chip in it, correct? There isn't any Uberdata "hardware?" How can this function the same as Hondata?

correct, there is not external hardware like hondata. all it is is a chip that you program using the free uberdata software. so all you need is a socketed ecu

Ill explain this.
Basically uberdata is a program that allows you to make a binay file(.bin) that can be burn on to a 28 pin (e)eprom chip. This in essence is the same thing as hondata. Hondata has spent time and money into making a box/piece of hardware that makes it easier for the tuner to hook up his romulator/laptop though. Also that piece of hardware that you buy from Hondata also acts half as a security measure so that people are less out to hack the hondata coding and such.
Basically what is needed to run uberdata is a socketed OBDI ECU, a chip burner, and a computer. More things will be required if and when datalogging is added but its still only approximately $30-40.
So basically in essence hondata and uberdata are two in the same except hondata has to market their product to make it so people want to purchase it and tuners are willing to tune it. Thus comes the need to have it easy to plug the laptop in for datalogging, and the romulator for RTP.
I hope this helps you understand the difference. Basically what im saying is hondata is a far more professional/marketable product while uberdata is simply more of a DIY program.

I've already got Hondata...I am thinking of trying Uberdata on my friend's setup.
