I haven't watched the vid yet (laptop is incredibly slow at downloads, for some reason)...but, that seems pretty damned impressive, however, I can't imagine that it really makes 1500 hp...and, it's turbine powered...not really turbo powered I don't think one could really have a turbo-powered go-kart (yes, I've seen the supposedly turbo goped, but it also had N2O, which I believe was either TOTALLY necessary to spool even the tiniest turbo, or was only seeing a power gain from the N2O)...I think that you would be hard-pressed to find a turbo small enough to spool on a 50-150cc engine

This is alot like these turbine powered VW's that someone made back in the 60's. They'd run 9's, as I recall, which was basically unheard of for a street-car (if you could call this a street car, haha).

the gixxer doesnt pull wheelies

looks like it burned up the tires and was just riding on wheels and over spun because of no force on the engine

waiting to download the video, i also somewhat doubt 1500 hp, thats what the little F1 cars with the 1.5 liter turbos were making on 75lbs of boost, and straight tolulene for gas, 115 octane a long time ago.

f1 cars didn't quite make 1500 HP, more like 1100 - 1300 hp

yes there are some differences between a turbocharged engine and a turbine/ turbo-fan.

check out how stuff works for alot of cool info, but this is a neat article on how to make your own gas turbine based on a turbocharger unit.

HP is a function of torque and rpm, if the turbine is spinning at 85000 rpm that means it needs to make 92 lb ft at that rpm to be 1500 HP.

hp = (tq x rpm)/5252

1500= (tq x 85000)/5252

5252(1500)/85000 = tq

92.682352941176470588235294117647 = tq

I'm sure there was an explaination for that. I'm also sure it can be resolved too.

I wanna put a RR gnome h1200 or a GE t58-ge-8f in a boat.

at a rated 1200-1800 lb of torque max, 1300+ shp, and overall weight of between 350-500 pounds depending on which turbine... either would be fun.

If you had read it all correctly you'd also know it's not burning it. It's using it in chemical reaction to create pressure. Burning an actual fuel would make even more power with less fuel needed. I have a feeling it was just to prove a point. What that point would be I have no clue.

That's right, but now you need to multiply it by the gear ratio used to reduce that 85,000rpm to 4,500rpm.

yea, like how rock climbers have 16,000 ft/lbs or torque. I hate that ****. Give me power and torque at the crank.

The funny thing is that the by product of this reaction leaves exhaust fumes that will corode nearly any metal in an instant.

You truelly are blind aren't you? It is on the crankshaft. That's what the reduction syatem is acting as. If you want torque why are you on a Honda board? It uses the same concept Honda uses to make torque. You know spin it faster.

Not necessarily. Depends on what he is reacting it with. It didn't say there did it? Hydrogen Peroxide will react will anything containing Oxygen, so that is a very broad statement...

uh, the comments were that noone believed the actual hp output of the engine. what does that have to do with gear ratio?

Spin a 15lb weight at 85,000rpm. Then gear it appropiately(sp?). There's how you can get 1,500HP. Please don't tell me you don't know how gearing is used to increase power.
