remove it and spray the holes that go into the mani with carb cleaner and let dry. Do it a few times and should be fine. Don't spray it where the coolant lines go, just in the 2 holes that go into the mani.

ok here is another idea. Make sure the idle screw is in. I've seen cars where the idle screw is so loose and about to fall out, and it did the same lobing. Is it doing it right after you start it or just a few minutes later??

so its not when its sittling and idling?? its missing when it gets around 1500 and then it jerks....Is it a 1st gen PR3/PW0?? If so swap your o2 sensors there bad. Or it could be the Cyl pos sensor going bad in the diz

hey i have the same prob with my 95 ex with b16a2 you can block off your iac with some card board and it wont surge but the problem is you need a del sol b16 manifold thats why it wont idle because the a2 wont work with the ex harness

im going to switch the wires on the iac sensor cause i think the kid that did the wire harness might have it backwards.

I am having a hard time understanding this discussion. I simply cannot understand what you people are saying. Can someone explain the symptoms in plane and clear english.

I know I just swapped a B16a2 into a 96 DX using a 97 EX harness. Not idle problems, but I have a strange loud "hum" coming from the IABC. I swaped in another IABC and the noise persists, so I know the problem is not the IABC, but when I unplug the IABC the noise stops.

Did any of you try setting your idle? My car (00 si) was throwing a IACV code. When coming to a stop, the idle would hang around 1500 or so and even when stopped, it would never dip below 1200. It began throwing a IACV code. I tried cleaning it out, but that didn't work either. I ended up setting the idle per a helms.

.......with car warm and running, unplug iacv & evap purge and used the idle screw to turn your idle down. You can check it with the tach (assuming you have one). I set mine about 800rpm or so. Turn car off and reset the codes it threw and see if that helps. It worked on my car. HTH.

sorry to hijack this thread..
but to all those ppl who had problems wit the car's idling problem...
does your car hunt or skips when you're driving...
like you'll be driving smoothly and out of a sudden the rev will just jump up and down by itself causing the car to jerk like hell...

i'm having that problem and i was just abt to get a new IACV until u guys said it didnt help!!..

help guys..anyone with the same problem?..

I know what you're feeling man, watch do this, there are a total of 3 plugs in the back of the intake manifold...
2 of em are gray and 1 of em is white
the white one is the IAT, idle air temp? i think..
the 2 gray ones are VERY commonly mixed around so change em around and see what happens

Have you ever thought about having a vacuum leak? First of all is it surging back and forth? like 750 up to 1500 and back down to 750 and back up to 1500. Is it doing that over and over? If that is the case you have a massive vacuum leak. Whats happening is the IACV is trying to compensate for the large vacuum leak and its getting confused and it cant keep up. I replaced my intake manifold gasket and my probelm went away. Yes, this was in a b16. Alot cheaper than replacing the IACV. Good luck.
