i need some honest advice - keep the prelude?
i bought a 96 prelude S for $3500 this last fall. its black on black and the interior is pretty mint. however the body needs a little help... the paint is good but theres little dings on my doors, i small dent on the fender(really small more like a scratch) and i have some rust above both back wheels. its a minnesota honda... most have rust after a few years. theres a little on the trunk lid around the prelude badge too..o ya and its a f22a
good strong engine but it aint a h23 or h22..
i dont have any hook-ups on body work, and estimates to make it clean are around $2000+. this would bring me to around $6gs spent on a f22 prelude. then a h23 or h22(id prefer a h23 for boost) is another $800-2000+
i really like the car and it looks a lot better than you'd think from the discription, but i know i could get $4000 for it from 2 people i know.. should i sell it and come up with some money and get one without rust and w/ h23 or put the work in on mine? i cant decide cause i think it would end up the same.. . i just need some "dump it" or "its worth it" opnions.
sorry that was long.

second that,
"I" would look at it this way, it is yours already, save some money to fix the cosmetic problems (if possible on your own), then save some money for a sweet deal on an H22 or H23 and you will be happy you did it.
AKA, don't just wonder, just do it mang!

save up, do the engine etc first. but keep the F22 in your garage. once you get the performance stuff done take care of the cosmetics. by that time you may have found a good hook up on body work.
this way you will know where your car has been, have the feeling of a job well done, and a spare engine set aside for when you blow the h23

Like he said, you know what's wrong with it now, and if you swap later, you will have an idea of it's history already. Besides, how are you gonna find an SI with a clean body and strong engine for under 5k in Minnehaha?
Keep it.
Good luck.

How about this
1. Get a grinder and a dremel and take the rust off. Bondo it or weld in some body panel and sand it up and prime it. Not that hard and its kinda fun if its your own car. Then, Ill sell you my H23 for a good price, and you can boost the crap out of it.
2. Do all the body work like I said, get it painted, and then Boost your F22 because you have nice sleeves and a low compression that both an H23 and an H22 do not. It takes boost better.
I have an SI now, and I want to sell it, but at the same time, I dont. Its a nice car but I don't know what it is about it. Maybe the way the the dash squeeks. Either way, keep the car!

I guess, I will be of a different opinion. I say sell it. Preludes are great but they turn into a money pit when you start upgrading. If you really want a lude and you dont owe anything on this one, I say sell it and find a nicer one. But you might as well find something that comes from the factory with a littler more get up and go then prelude S.
i say sell it and buy a lude w/ an h23 or h22, if you dont like the hassle of repairing and what not. but i think it would be more fun to build up the one you have. especially if you can do it yourself. lates.
