Always wondered about the ****. I remember reading somewhere it was Ti , but it seems way too heavy to be Ti. Never heard that it was aluminum (only heard about aluminum on S2000, RSX); but its to heavy to be aluminum also.

Another thing about the **** I found weird, I bought mine from Honda of Japan in 1998 (Pre-Ti shift **** in the US). And after couple of years of use, it is really shiny (enough that some people swear its a fake); I have yet to see a US(OEM ITR) **** to look like mine.

I was talking about the **** only. My '00 shifter was chrome-y0!, but that doesn't mean that 97-98 shifters were as well.

[edit] #132 - OE factory US ***** on both ITR and Stook are aluminum. Honda does sell an Ti **** for at least the Stook, which every dealer around here promptly installed to jack the price up. IIRC, it's a hair darker than the Al ****.

Was there a *real* Ti **** available for the Hype R? Not sure. [/edit]

I doubt those ITR shifters are chrome....most likely polished aluminum

Damn that thing did suck. Cold in winter, scorching hot in summer. I never did find a way to keep that little ****** from getting 300 degrees in the summer. Ball cap laid on top, Crown Royal bag over it, nothin'.

Shifter != Shift ****

Shifter = the big pole the **** sits on. Which is chrome on '00-up. Black on '97-98.

I thought we covered this already?

Not really. I'd rather keep it around in case i ever sell the car.

haha! The many uses of the crown royal bag I like the leather **** better (infer whatever you want from that).

Yeah, I know the differance between a shifter and shift ****....So apparently the later model ITR SHIFTERS are Chrome plated steel, that suprises me Honda would do **** like that....I would expect better from them.

When the 996 first came out with the Titanium shift **** Car & Driver described it as grabbing the wrong end of a popsicle in the winter and the wrong end of a soldering iron in the summer. I still really like the way they look, I have dark tint and always use a sunshade when parked so its not really a big deal but I don't really want to put down $200 for a new one. [I like the Crown Royal bag idea, too bad it apparently doesn't work]

Why would you expect "better" ?

What is "better" anyways? Part of the shifter is exposed, i suppose they wanted it to look pretty.
