ok heres my question i was told and heard that the b20 head and a ls head are the same thing. so does that mean u can put a b20 head on a ls block. and can u put a b16 head on a b20 block with out opening up the combustion chamber. the reason why i am asking is that i have a friend that needs a head for his ls block and i wanted to know can u put a larger chamber head on a smaller block hense b20 head 85mm and ls block 81mm. and for my b20 vtec same thing b16 head 81mm and b20 block 85 mm

I have a B20 head but the chamber is 84mm. you shouldn't put a 84mm chamber on a 81mm cylinder. you'll be deep in detonation doo-doo. Alot of people say B20 heads have 81mm chambers so it's possilble but check this.

 

they are the exact same casting but some have the bigger chambers, and im pretty sure some dont.

 

if you pay for a new headgasket i'll measure my b20's combustion chambers. lol. i've always been a firm believer that those heads are exactly the same.

 

I've be meaning to take a picture of my PH8 head (B20B) with calipers showing 84mm chambers

But apparently there are b20 heads that are 81mm too.
