Ok, so I'm turboing the SAE car this year 2000 R6 (YZFR6) motor, and with the plans for boost etc I'm going to have to drop this 12.4:1 compression to something around 11 or even lower.... rather than buy new pistons off the bat, i'd rather try a thicker headgasket first, since its a lot less work, and obviously cheaper........ my problem is i can't find them anywhere....... tried cometic, and all the bike websites i can think of....... anyone know where i can grab one or two at??...... or even a copper HG?? what do you think of the idea of running 2 stock HG's???? even thou the owner turbo exchange I work for is a huge turbo bike builder from back in the day, i'm still lost....since he's old and sienial.... thanks for the help!

for honda auto engines, the stock headgaskets are multilayer.

so for a thicker headgasket, you can cut the gasket pattern out of a thin sheet of aluminum and put that inbetween the gasket layers. at least one company sells an expensive "thicker headgasket" for turbo apps that is just this aluminum cutout and the stock headgasket.

i am sure you can do something similar. be sure to compensate by getting some longer studs to bolt the head down....ARP is the only show in town for bolts/studs/nuts.

if the engine comes with bolts for the head, replace them with studs anyway, since you're going to be taxing the hell out of that motor i am sure and you dont want the head lifting.

I've seen what falcon has suggested done but I wouldn't do it personally. I don't think there's really a market for lower CR on sportbikes other than the hayabusa. Try PMing turbobusa

so, if you were going to slap a turbo on a 600cc motorcycle engine, how would you lower the compression? i am not certain of the rules but they probably do not have the luxury of going with a lower compression piston / rod package for this competition.
