Bellhousing Indentification
I bought a used bell-housing for my H22 trans, and when I got it the code on it said H2A5-XXXXXXX. Dose anyone know what type of trans this came off of. I took off my broken bell-housing and everything matches up but the bearings where the gear mechanisms goes into is smaller in diameter. Can the bearings be swaped or is the hole that holds the bearing also smaller. I'll try to get pics so you can see what I am talking about. Any help would be great.
Thanks
Thanks
The H2A5 Tranny came in the 90,91 Accord
i assume you mean the countershaft. and NOT the Input shaft
The Accord bearing is 33mm ID x 62mm OD x 22mm width
The Prelude bearing is 38 x 65 x 22
so you will need to call a bearing supplier and have them order you one that is
62mm OD x 38mm ID x 22mm
this should work.
let me know how it goes..

I want to thank you typeSHgirl for giving me the info on the bearings, but I am having no luck finding the size I need. I called several bearing companies and the all told me the same thing-good luck-. My next question would be can I grind the down the opening to fit the bearing (make it large enough to fit the H22 bearing into the H2A5 clutch housing)?. And if so would you recomend a certain way to do that.
Thanks
Thanks
I contacted a major bearing supplier, im waiting for them to get back to me. On that 62 x 38 x 22 bearing
Most bearings are sized in inches. And the dumb asses that work around here at the local Bearing supplies don’t like messing with converting them especially if you only need 1 bearing, they fell its not worth there time.
Option 1
Search until you find that size.
62 38 22
Option 2
Take your counter shaft to a machine shop and have them turn the end down from 38mm to 33mm - .197”
But that Is going to weaken your CS.
Option 3
Get bearing sized at. 2.5”od x 1.5”id x 7/8”w and then take the clutch housing to a machine shop and have them
Mill the OD out .059”
And Bore it down .009”
That bearing would fit.
The CS would be .004” smaller but I don’t think that would matter.
62mm = 2.44094”
38mm = 1.49606”
22mm = 0.86614”
you probably already have some cash tied up into that housing. And the junk yard is not going to give you $ back.
So even with some machine work, its still going to be cheaper than getting another clutch housing.
I will let you know what the bearing supply I contacted, has to say.
Keep me informed on how this project goes.

98HB hi,
ive had no luck finding a bearing. i searched for like 3hrs thru globalspec and thomasregistry, searching everymajor bearing supplier. AND NO LUCK. WTF
its essentiall a 1.5x2.5x7/8 bearing i found a few that were close but werent going to work.
the way i see you options now are
1 try to exchange the clutch housing from where you got it.
2 take counter shaft to machine shop and have them mill down the the end from 38mm-32mm .197"
it will weaken it slightly but the other end is already 25mm. -- if you dont plan on making hugh power and doing hard launches with slicks. i dont think that is going to be a problem.
3 Eat the cost of the housing when the junk yard tells you they aint takin it back and Polish it and turn it into a wall clock or something. HA
PM me and let me know how things turn out.
