Default Car was hit today

well today as im driving to work, some older women changed lanes into my front end .. I was making a right turn and as i turn this lady changes lanes right into my driver side fender.... The gay thing is that when the cops come they say that its my fault because i didnt yeild to the right of way... I think the only good thing is that there was no damage to her car, because it was he tires that hit me.... well heres some pics of the damage...

Well i guess there is some good that came out of it, i have a reason to get a 99 conversion

Thanks adirondackR for the help with the pics

im now sueing the police department for not following protocol.. he is supposed to call the ambulance no matter what.. so hopefully i can get some big bucks

The bitch *** cops probly said it was your fault because you r probly young driven a Honda and think you were racing. Plus it was an old lady. They need to get their licences taken away. The other day it took 5 min for an old lady to Parrel Park

It is your fault. The cars going on that road have the right of way and even if they are in the far lane and decide to change to the closer lane you have to give way to them. That is why I like to make sure there are no cars in either lane before I make a right turn.

so your telling me that if I swerve into someone and total my car becuase they were in that lane and wouldnt let me over that I can get a fat check from THEIR insurance agency, I think not....

i have to agree. if you turn into traffic and get hit, you're at fault for not yielding.

in some cases you would. yielding in lanes and yielding in intersections is different. in lanes, the car in front may have the right of way, but can be liable for an unsafe lane change. in intersections, the person that's trying to get into the flow traffic must always yield

This is actually a hazy situation. Technically, you're not allowed to make lane changes within 100 feet or something of an intersection. On the other hand, the people going straight always have the right of way, and if they happen to be changing lanes within that "righ of way" zone and they hit you, it's your fault.

Regardless, I'm 100% sure that you were a victim of selective justice. Cops hate Hondas. Period.

You need to read what I said again. He was making a right hand turn onto a 2 lane road. He has to give way to cars in both lanes.

Sorry to hear about your car. My boy got into an accident too with his 97 Civic and now he is also putting on a 99 Front End.
Good luck man. Hate those old ladies on the road.

This is 100% correct. Don't get mad because you guys don't know the law.... believe it or not, not every cop is out to get you. Most young drivers in Hondas are a little too cocky for their britches anyhow and probably deserve what they get but they're to immature to admit it. I'm not saying that about this guy because I don't know him or the situation.

If you entered the right of way as she was changing lanes then it is your fault. However, if you were already in the right of way then she changed lanes and hit you then she should have been ticketed for improper lane change.

That thread title is funny. Sounds ghetto, but funny. At least you can do the conversion now
