taking tranny out of car need a little help
Alright I am gonna be yanking the bad tranny i got out and the place i got it from is gonna fix it...so I will have a car with no tranny....and since the axles are attatched to the tranny do I have to basically put my car up on cynder blocks while my tranny is being fixed? I just dont have the money for a shop to do it so I was just gonna try it on my own...dont it on rwd cars but never a fwd...how will this work with the front wheels?
The big nut on the end of the axle holds the wheel bearing together. So if you leave that in & hang the axle with coathangers, OK.
If you take the axles OUT, you might want to get big nuts bolts & washers to hold the bearings together before you set the car back down on it's wheels. They don't have to be anything profound, because you aren't really going to be driving anywhere.
