Default HELP! Threw head back together, wont start!

Well, heres my scenario, bought a new crx, transfered over obd1 swap and cam and miscellanious goodies. Went for a drive, timing belt snapped, damn, just my luck, and at 5500 rpms. I went to line everythin gup to TDC, and when i went to rotate teh camshaft to TDC, by tightening the cam bolt, it snapped the bolt. SO i figured i locked something up.

Anyways, i start putting back the other crx, wired the resistor box and obd1 injectors back in, connected the cut wires on teh ecu side where my vafc 2 was, put the grounds and battery back in, reasembled the rocker assembly with the stock cam. Both the cam gear and crankshaft pulley are at TDC, put teh stock obd1 dizzy back in. This is all on a d16z6 head too. Went to fire it up, and all it does it crank really quickly, theres no compresion almost, and after cranking for a few seconds, i got a code 15, Ignition switch output or something liek that? WTF, i cant figure this one out, its wierd. This car ran perfectly before, didnt remove the head or anything, just wired everything back to obd0. What could it be? THanx.

you may want to check for bent valves ....if the timing belt broke will driving take the head off turn up side down put water in each of the 4 head chambers where the botoms of the valves are if the water level in any of them goes down you have bent valves......

update! Got it to crank, teh stupid two wire conector on teh dizzy was disconnected, no it turns over, but it makes a thumping outta the intake. Its weird, i remember reading something int this, and they said it was the dizzy was flipped 180 degrees, but it wont go on with teh pins flipped the other way, it will only fit on one way, so what could this be. Im using a skunk2 cam gear, and the one i have has two small indentions on either side of teh cam gear, i lined those up with the markings on the side of the head, that read P08 with arrows. And thats with all the text reading up, adn teh degree markings on teh top, is that right. Other wise its lined up perfectly. WHats up with this?

you may have to reset the timing again on the timing belt making sure you have tdc and that your came is set at tdc as far as adjustable came gears dont know much about them never really used one befor....but it sounds like your timing is definatelly off....

Yeah, figures, ill jsut have to throw on a stock cam gear to figure it out, i hate these things, but does anyone know which way the KEY that liens the cam gear on teh camshaft up, little metel notch in the cam or camgear, should be pointing when the head is at TDC? I could do it this way to make sure, lol.

EDIT: Re-read post, check the dizzy first, I bet that's your problem, make sure it's pointing at the right spot. Should take you 10 minutes if that, seems easier if you take the valve cover off too, was for me atleast

Adjust your valves..Adjust your valves..Adjust your valves..

I just went through basically the same thing (IM me for a vid clip of what it sounded like, I think you'll be suprised at how similar it sounds)

1) Valves had never been adjusted so stuff wasn't opening at all (luckily I had some new stronger valves)

2) Because of this the timing belt would jump a tooth ever few rotations, causing timing to get out whack fast.

3) Take the dizzy off when at TDC and make sure it's pointing at the #1 plug, if not, flip it. It can only go two ways.

I was told the popping was the compression blowing back through the intake. Take a look at the helms man. to help you do the valves, it's so simple I've been kicking myself all week cuz I didn't do it first off.

I was completly amazed at how easy adjusting valves are. Let me know if that fixed it. I like to know when I've helped someone, makes me feel like I know something once in a while. Especially something I learned the hard way
