QUESTION ABOUT INTEGRA INTAKE!
hey guys, i just recently took off the box surrounding my intake filter and when i did my car got like 10x louder. just wondering if an of u guys knew y.
thanks,
thanks,
the open filter element is drawing more air into the intake pipe. with the stock air box. its that small tube that feeds the air into the air filter, but when the air filter is exposed its draws air from anywhere of the engine.
ur made urself a cold air intake of some sort
ur made urself a cold air intake of some sort
wow I cannot believe I just read that.
Have you ever thought to just sit down and search for information and read it ?
You didn't make anykind of cold air intake. If you'd notice, there is a giant white plastic container at the bottom of that tube below your air filter. That is a resonator. It is to keep the noise down from the intake. You now broke that seal, thus creating noise because the resonator cannot function like it should.

Just wondering if you replaced the filter with like a k and n,then removed the resonator but kept the factory tubing.Isnt that the same idea behind the spoon intake?Just wondering if it will flow as good as a aem or better even?
screamin is right I wouldnt advise doing that u can mess u p u r engine by sucking up all kinds of junk into ur TBand into ur engine put it back or get a CAI before somthing happens....sorry didnt mean to flame welcome to H-T

Nothing like the Spoon Intake

Kindas sorta, but not really. With the stock paper filter, it's still not doin' too well. They are crap. Also, the stock tubing is not smooth, therefore, it is still not flowing air well. A smooth pipe, with a good flowing filter will help produce more HP

hmmm taht wasnt the one i was thinking off.I dont want too spend alot of money on a intake, and i want too retain the stock look.I was just thinking of doing a k&n and the stock pipe.Just not sure if it would give any difference.Prolly not worth doing
K&N makes drop-in kits for the factory intake. They are ok, but not worth the money.
Just a K&N filter on stock pipe isn't going to do a whole lot.
Just buy yourself a good intake. Injen, Comptech, AEM

EBay Intake + K&N Filter =
Mine had good fit and everything, just needed the better filter and didn't cost as much as all the name brands....

youre joking right? newberama strikes .
Without the cover on the intakebox, you are now drawing hot air from the engine compartment.
And yes, it sounds nice if you like to appear annoying to everyone around you.

It might sound nice.. BUT IMHO I THINK THERE WILL BE A LOSS OF POWER.
Im not exactly sure why but i've seen lots of dyno charts where they tested the stock box w/ the resenator open then closed and the closed box performed slightly better.

Actually that was my little brother that posted that, he was just wondering, no need for you to try and be a smart *** about it. The car is slow either way.

We never will. Because there will ALWAYS be that guy starting out who wants basic information.
So they, and we, rely on you guys to post answers to their questions, not sarcastic remarks about how stupid they are. Just answer...if you dont think a post belongs here, report it to us. Otherwise, ignore it.
You got your answer in this thread so Im going to lock it...but I just wanted to make it clear to you guys...not everyone is "advanced" as some people, so bear with them, help them out, or dont say anything at all.
