if the speedometer on the stock R (no mods or wheel uprgrades) is correctly calibrated,then I've hit 150mph, 7 mph more that what the magazines claim to be its top speed. I did get caught by a copper, but not for speeding, instead for not stopping at a stop sign- got away with just a warning though (luckily)

GPS has proven that the stock speedo is inaccurate! (To a large degree at higher speeds)

 

VERY INACCURATE at high RPM and SPEED. Still fast though....oh..and Im a cop!!

I tried something out with an RSX-S. We were both on the highway and when my speedo said about 80, the RSX-S was only at 75-76. Bad speedo, boooooo...

 

Just like how the stock tach is off by about 300 rpm.

 

Speedos are off by about 2-3MPH at 60 MPH.. They are set higher on purpose.. So multiply both sides by 2 and you get 4-6mph difference at 120

If you were doing 180, it would be a 6-9 MPH difference....

 

I heard that Spoon gauge clusters are very accurate. So... you can shell out $900 for the cluster and run your top speed again.
