5 GEN RADIATOR SHROUD - pics inside 56k BEWARE
For a while i thought of doing something new for the lude. Well after a few days of measuring and test fitting and making a template its fianlly done.
I built my own RADIATOR SHROUD. I'm sure most of you know what a radiator shroud is and what it does, so i will skip the explanation. I thought it also works great to cover up that huge gap between the grill and the frame.
I'm sure some of you will flame and all.... but thats ok i'm cool with comments.
SOON TO COME: 2 ENGINE BAY COVERs :bigthumb: in 1 week

nice work! you have a bender or did you just rig somthing up to get the creases? Look like aluminum, right? You could make it all sexy if you had a bead or two...
YES, i can make more.
If there will be a few people that want them ... i will sell a few.
The material i used is BRUSHED ALUMINUM. I riged something up to make the bends

Pretty decent for hand made.
The bend up to the radiator support is completely unnecessary and adds quite a bit of work though. It acutally decreases the functionality, but some will say it looks better.

The reason why there is a bend to the radiator support is because on 5 GENs we ave about 1/2 inch gap between the support and the radiator. so a lot of air escapes through that.
HOW DO I KNOW... cause i clean my engine bay every time and wash under the hood. I can see where dirt and water spots are and figure out that it comes from that gap.
yes its harder to make it this way, but serves a better purpose and helps out a lot for those with CF HOODS.
SInce i afew people are interested, I will be making a couple of them you can email me at realk7@aol.com for details.

all I'm saying is that the AC condensor sets in front of the radiator and in a perfect world you wouldn't want that set up because it blocks the flow of air to the radiator. And this relate to yor cover because with that cover you're trying to get maximum air flow to the radiator without cool air escaping or hot air entering.

Same with the 4gens and I beg to differ on its effectiveness. Once the air gets to that point, unless you had a shroud around ALL corners of the radiator, the air will go elsewhere. Basically, youre just blocking a little of the top while 3 other corners remain wide open. Sending the air under the radiator support is the main goal of this type of thing.
