my fried types to me....when i floor it, the mph needle jumps from 130 to zero to 80 to 10 and ****, gas guage doesnt work, i started it and it sounded like it was misfiring and the check engine light came on...he has a 98 gsr

check wire harness and grounds. sounds like electrical problem. Did he do anything to the car before it started doing this??

 

yea he told me he was beating on it...but that still shouldnt happen for some redlining

I've had similar ghey problems in my gsr.

Once it dries out the guages run fine. When wet, the speedo sometimes shuts off. The CEL will be code 17, VSS (vehicle speed sensor)....probably beeing fucked by water...well in my case.
