Today after school I was leaving the parking lot and heard a pop of some sort come from my engine. I'm not sure if its my clutch or not. Also now there is a slight ticking sound coming from somewhere underneath the steering wheel. Any ideas? Thanks

 

The car appears to run fine, gears are engaging and everything. I put it into fifth and let out the clutch and the car stalled. Anything else I can check?

 

Are you putting the car into fifth gear from a stand still? If you are, you are going to kill your clutch!!!

 

I just tried it once because someone told me to try that. Didnt know it was that bad, not going to do it again. Any ideas?

 

Dude...not smart!! They were fcking with you!! You should never try to engage in 5th from a stand still...your car cannot overcome the initial inertia in fifth gear, that's why it keeps stalling!!!! That's why you have a first gear!!

About the noise...what kind of noise is it...be more descriptive

 

miraiz, what he is referring to is someone told him to put the car in 5th, and try to go. if it stalls, the clutch is good. if it revs, the clutch is no good. personally i can tell when a clutch goes, but i understand the theory.

 

there are better ways than trying to stall in 5th....
