Default turboing jdm d15b vtec

i have a 92 dx hatch with the jdm d15b vtec. boost is the next priority, does anyone know how this motor responds to boost? how much boost is enough for this stock motor? this is going to be my setup: hf manifold, 14b turbo, dsm sidemount, 2.25" exhaust, msd 255lph inline fuel pump, turboxs dual stage bc, dsm bov, hks turbo timer, b&m fpr, missing link check valve for map. does anyone on here have this setup and give advice for the instal. most of this stuff came off my 92 eclipse gsx, IE, free. any info is appreciated, also, does anyone know what this engines vtec switch point is and redline, i have an auto p28 conv. to manual, and the thing runs all the way to 7800

try the FI forum

the ecu will control the redling and X-over, not the motor. p28s rev out at 7600, and x-over at 4400.

what i was asking was does anyone know what the motor is capable of reving to, and what is the optimal point to crossover, i know what the p28 does. this engine ran on the p08, so i guess what im saying is, what is the redline if the p08 and the crossover.

also i am unsure about your questions on the redline. i would also not run over 8 psi on your stock motor with your management, with some better managemant and some tuning you could run more. 5-6 psi would be rather safe using the FMU. make sure you know what you are doing before you raise it up. you shouldnt even need a boost controller because i think the WG opens at around 8 psi on the 14b and just from reading your setup i wouldnt suggest going higher. it depends how long you want the motor to run for

the wg opens at around 8psi, wouldnt i need the bc to limit it to 6-7 psi. also being in boise ID, what ratio fmu do i need, i was thinking about a 12\1. what i meant by the redline is i did a serch on this motor and everyone was saying redline is 7300, but the p28 reds at 7600, i know its only 300, but is this going to hurt the vavletrain or is this acceptable?

it's almost identical to the z6, so i think you are best bet to leave the p28 in control.

optimal, you'd have to find out on a dyno.

this motor with the dx tranny pulls incredibly strong all the way to red. even in tall *** 4th. this motor and i/e and being gutted is already fast as ****. i raced my buddy with a 99 si with i/h/e and beat him by a car and a half to 100. every one around here is already worried about when i turbo this thing.

vtec x-over for the d15b vtec is 4800 under full throttle and 5000 or 5200 under light throttle....at least that is what my vtec light says I think this is one of the best "D" engines to boost because a good amount of them are low mileage vs USDM d16's...try to find one of those with under 50K miles...can be done but $$$$! There was a guy on here boosting one of these(I think his name was "eg6turbo"), he had stock internals, running 10 PSI...he threw down a 13.6 in the 1320! I don't care what you say, that is fast!.....as for ECU's....use the P08. It has more aggressive fuel maps for the cam, which is also more aggressive then the Z6's....Reving it to 7800? I would beat my friend *** if he did that in my car! Readline is there for a reason.....and lets face it, with a boosted civic, all they will see are your tail lights anyway...so there isn't much need to spend too much time in the red zone ....but that is just my opinion.
