Default How fast for 14,000?

Hey whats up guys
Im thinking about turboing a 01 prelude. I have about 14,000 grand to spend for everything that i need. My car right now is bone stock with 23,000 miles on it. I was just wondering if you guys would have any ideas on how much power i could get on this budget. Thanks a lot

Personally, I would never put as much into my car as its worth. You will lose about $10,000 right off the bat. Knowing that would be enough to make me sell my car and add the $14k to what I sold it for and buy something nicer.

My glass is half empty right now

ya im debating on gettin a supra or a prelude. I was considering the turbo lude because the insurance would be cheaper and i really like preludes.

It all depends on what you want the car for, drag, autoX

Preludes are nice cars but if say you wanna go Drag then I'd say get a IT-R the preludes do weigh a lot. If you just want it very powerful then build the engine and maybe go turbo but either way think about what you really want it for before you spend

boost the lude, take it build the motor, get you a GOOD custom turbo set up, Hondata, NO FMU, make it look clean, and walk A supra, you may spend the extra money getting the supra but will you have the money to maintain that supra or even Mod that supra, just get some good rods(pauter, crower extreme) Arias pistons, nice crower head set up and about 11-16psi. but thats just my opnion.

There shouldnt be any debate at all.

Supra.

You are just pissing money away putting 14k into a prelude.

I say Turbo the Lude.
You could fix up the lude more than the supra cuz you already have the lude.

I agree. And this comes from someone who has spent way entirely too much on his prelude.

What up bro you think you can use some of that 14k to get me that Nitrous bottle brackets you've owed me for months?

I think the Supra would be awsome, but like you said you already have a Prelude. And if you compare aftermarket prices for Supra and the Prelude, the Supra costs more. But then again you gain more power out of less parts with the Supra. Like the other guy said consider what you want to do in the present and see if that would work out long term.

well, just my opinion but your lude won't last till 100,000 miles. With that much money put into and the power outlook it's not going to be as realiable as a Stock Supra. Just a few more psi with the supra and you'll be set. Those things are hp queens.

Supra is overall a better performing car... execpt gas mileage

if you love ludes, keep the one you got stock, and buy a 4th gen cheap(say 4k)
and put 10g's into that ride, then you got your turbo 4th gen lude, and a
stock 5th gen lude for a daily driver that will still hold it's value

I notice that the only ones saying "Prelude over Supra" are the ones who haven't experienced the "joy" of owning a high powered Prelude. I wonder why that is?

Sell the Prelude, get the Supra, and give that guy some nitrous brackets.

Five years and $50,000, and I have four motors in my garage disassembled, and a non running car.

I could've taken that money and spent it on a used Mercedes clk 420 and a used Corvette and had much more fun. Now the cash is wasted, I'm back in school, and don't have my "good job" like I used to... I drive my "Tow Truck" every day.

Don't be retarded.... learn from our mistakes.

hands down get a supra theres nothing like that rear wheel drive power. And like everyone else said it is easier to get more power and it will be much more reliable.

heh, that's why i bought my truck instead of turboing my car.

find someone getting rid of something that is in decent condition and has a strong motor in it to boot.

next up is a z28, c5 vette, '05 gt, or whatever else i find between now and whenever i start shopping.

Yep. Words of wisdom from Todd... be smart and listen to him.

I almost sold my prelude before turbocharging it for a supra but I couldn't do it at that time. I should have waited.

$14k will get you in the 300whp range if you have a shop do all of your work.
