DMV motorcycle test
Does anyone know what manuvers are in the motorcycle test? I tried searching and couldnt find anything. I been riding for a couple of years w/ my permit, but the wait for the msf class is too long and I am wondering if I should just take the test at the DMV. Some of my friends tell me its a little hard, just wanted to hear from someone that has actually taken the test. Thanks
Yea, i always hear mixed things about the dmv test. A guy in my neighborhood said he failed it 3 times. Then others say it was easy as long as u know how to ride a bike. My cousin said that its hard but he passed his first time. I've been riding around with my permit also and would eventually like to get my license too.
MSF class
I've heard the DMV test is extremely hard. If you've been riding around for some time now with your permit, the MSF class might be hard because you might have picked up some bad habits that the instructors will try to make you unlearn. Regardless, the MSF class is a lot more fun than going to the DMV to take your test. At least you'll meet some fellow riders through MSF.

I think you do get a insurance discount.
I cant believe all you "STUNNAs" dont have your license!!!
I would think the tests would be similar in all states. Here in ca, they ask you to point out things on your motorcycle (i.e. clutch lever, brake lever, horn, throttle, foot brake, etc.) Then you have navigate down a lane (maybe 3 ft wide) and stay between the lines while driving down a lane about 30 ft, into a circle about 15 ft (or so) in diameter (while staying inside the 3ft lane), then back out another lane. You have to navigate this both ways (rounding the circle left and right). Your front must stay in the line. Then its just a quick hand signal test and thats it!! Passed the first time

didn't think so. Atleast I didn't get a discount through state farm. I do know when I was shopping around though that some insurance companies would give discounts.
I took mine after the MSF course AFTER paying $300 for the course, they werent licensed to give out licenses. So i took it on a Buell Blast 500cc.. Really easy, but i bet if i didnt take the course i woulda failed

One of Jerseys only insurance companies, Rider, doesnt even offer discounts to pepole that have completed the MSF course. Nothing like having the highest insurance rates in the country.

here are the test from the DMV in Michigan.

it is easy as hell to pass this test all they do is weave around cones, make turns and stop in a box going 20mph.
there are other private licensing test you can go to thats where i got mine at,
the price was $40.00

Hey Carlo, a co worker of mine took the MSF class at Lord Fairfax Community College in Winchester and only had to wait a couple weeks. I called them up earlier today and left a message for them to call me back so I can get more info and sign up. I'll let you know what the wait time is and $$.
This damn nice weather pisses me off...need a bike.
