I have a jdm ys1 tranny that works excellent. Only problem is a quite loud whine when in reverse. Anyone know possible cause for this? I will be putting in an LSD next week and would like to fix that while im in there.

 

Every tranny whines in reverse.

every honda i've heard makes the noise

its a very expensive fix if any one offeres it. The reason why it wines is beause your reverse gears are straight cut, where as you regular gears (1st-5th) are cut at an angle or helical gears

 

This is by far more then the normal whine.

 

Reverse works very simple in a Honda mt just inspect the gear teeth when it's apart.
