Default Are high RPM's nessasary?

I have a b18b it red lines at 7,000. When I get my turbo, will the relativley low redlind affect performance. I was thinking about it today while I was driving home from work, I hear that the DRAG kit will spool to full boost between 3600rpm and 4000rpm so if it take till alomst 4000 to completley spool that means I will only be boosting for around 3000 rpms which wil go really fast before I need to shift. Lots of feed back for turbo'ed ls's would be nice.

Also what would it take to raise the redline to about 8000rpm?

doesn't take much to get them up to 8k, valvetrain (valvesprings and retainers)
maybe some custom turbo cams from crower
oil squirters from another vtec motor

LS dont' necessiarily need a high redline, they can put higher boost...look at
evil's gsr and friends PROJECT LS 12's

lets just say u did an LS with cams, valvesprings, retainers, block girdle, head studs, pistons and rods.. How high could you rev it safely and about how much would all that junk cost?

oh yeh oil squirters too

Just sleeve the block and run more boost.

I think he'll need some new pistons and rods too if he's gonna run more boost.

Who knows if more boost will net more power or a higher redline?

DIRep listed pistons and rods in his list.

More boost will give way more power. 8000rpm redline might get you 20hp

not so much worried about the power as I am about only being in boost for a very short time before I have to shift.

You will build full boost before 4k. When you shift at redline, you will still be in full boost. Do not worry about it

NA cars need high RPMs to make power, but less so for FI cars....Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI TME makes max torque at 3,000rpms whereas the ITR is in the 6,000 rpm range...
