Default cam choices for daily driver

Im just starting a GSR build
going to be around 11.6 : 1 compression ratio
i need something that is extremely reliable
this motor will probably see 18,000 miles a year

Im considering toda A's since they are pretty mild
but also considering toda B's for better gains, just not sure if its worth the risks

i'd like to be able to hit 200whp

From what I've read, 11.6 is a minimum for the Toda Spec B package and really want about lower 12.x:1 CR for the best gains. With this in mind and also that you're looking for a reliable daily driver, I would go for the Toda A's since they'll work especially well with the 11.6:1 CR.

With around 12.0:1+ we've made more power with CTR's than Toda's... I personally don't like Toda's but that's just because we haven't ever seen good output with them on our motors ranging from 11.5-15.0:1... I would say B's for the soul reason that they did okay in David's motor last season... It was just a stock sleeved NA CRVTEC last season made 185whp (on our M.D., and we are ~10% under a Dynojet) with 84.50 11.50:1 slugs, Portflow head, Toda B's, Hondata, and ran a consistent 12.30's in his full interior EH2 (nothing special in a 2300lbs. car)... What bore is your motor and do you have headwork? Depending on headwork, etc. there's really not going to be any difference in reliabilty... Good Luck

ctr's may be an option, hell they are cheaper than toda a's

i will be B18C1 with factory overbored p30 pistons with gsr head

i'm looking for something that will give me a good midrange, and would like to make power up to, or close to 9k rpm

Toda's are definately a midrange cams... I personally would go with CTR/ITR cams however you will start losing power after ~7800rpm (pretty common with a 1800cc+ motor)... If it's between Toda A's and OE cams go with the good old Honda parts as they are fairly close in spec... If you want to try the B's then go for them, I really just don't know how they'll do with a stock head as we've never tried... Awhile back my friend had his B's that he was trying to sell for cheap and if he still has them and you are interested let me know... I wouldn't recommend them without upgrading your valvetrain (springs at the minimum)...

i've built couple motors for other ppl, this will be the first for myself, due to financial constraints i haven't been able to start a build until now

well, im making plans now, so i can try to adhear to them as best as possible
besides the obvious, changing all seals, and bearings

my planned set up will consist of
oversized p30 pistons
GSR head
toda header
skunk2 IM
port matcing the exhaust and intake
overbored itr throttle body

How about some Skunk Stage 1's? It's a quality mild cam, and it's cheaper than the Toda.
