Crappy Exedy ? They are the leading clutch manufacturer in Japan. I wouldn't call that crap.
I have the Exedy Organic race clutch in my Teg right now. I've gotten approx. 21k miles on it. It is now ready to be replaced. (IMO, it could stay in, but it won't hold much more power). I run the ***** out of my car, so I don't expect them to last long.
However, since I am ready to boost again, I am installing an Exedy Cerametallic this weekend. I expect that to hold up well.
As for your Kevlar question, the CM stage III Kevlar disc is good. If you want to spend $500 on a clutch! Not worth it IMHO.
Look around before you make a solid decision on a clutch. Take into effect what power you're puttin down now, and how much power you're goin to make in the near future.

Expensive, but holy moly it is nice. If you can get it installed right, that thing is the bomb. It'll hold anything you throw at it and it has a nice gentle grab as well. None of the chattering. Just a smooth consistent grab.
The CM Stage III rules, but if you ever have to talk to customer service. MAKE SURE YOU TALK TO LONNIE! Everyone else that answers the phones is an absolute ********.

OK thanks for everyones input! but yo i dont know what happened to this clutch i mean i cant shift out of reverse right now and when the problem first happened i could drive for a lil bit perfectly fine and then after a little bit it would start to slip really bad and then i wouldnt be able to shift out of gears
im just upset b/c i spend alot of money buying a clutch kit and alot of friends time changing it just to have to do it again on my own and i dont know whats wrong wit it. ohh well my dumb luck i guess

are you sure it's your clutch and not your tranny??? The reverse thing sounds like a tranny problem. Anyway, I had a CM stage III in my old Da. I wasn't thrilled with it; the break-in period was like a thousand miles........during the middle of summer, that sucked. If I had to do it over, I'd go with the non-kevlar CM stage IV clutch since it cost the same and is still a spring loaded hub so engagement isn't so dramatic. The CM stage III engagement did feel nice though. Sold the car a couple months after putting the clutch in so I can't comment on longevity of kevlar clutches though they are suppose to last longer.
I liked the longevity of mine. But the above is correct. The break-in period is 500 miles and it really is tempting to romp on it. Especially if your engine is brand new (my situation

when getting the CM Stage III installed they told me that the breakin period for the kevlar clutch was twice as long as the break-in period for their other clutches. CM states that their stageI, II, IV have a break-in period of about 500 miles, but their stage III is 1500 miles. The upside they siad was that the III would last a lot longer than any of the other clutches. imo, you probably would never get around to putting that many miles on your kevlar clutch to make it worth it solely for longevity, so go with a CM stage IV for the same amount of money.

Yeah, I agree, BTW, I have a CM STG III in my DA, that I haven't run yet, how long should it last? Theres about 2500 miles on it now, broken in, but, driven with "spirit" not killing it, but not babying it, how long did you guys' one last?

Many people install the Exedy factory replacment clutch and call it crap. I think that is BS. People think they are getting a really good deal, only to replace the problem with the same problem.
Exedy is a manufacturer if many clutches OEM and aftermarket. As a matter of fact, they make alot of stuff for ACT.

lolol @ him saying the leading OEM clutch supplier is crap. funny. theres thousands of people driving,a dn even racing on exedy. and sorry but the chances of a botched install casuing your troubles far exceed the chances of blaming exedy's "crap".
