Default Cheap header = No power ?

Hey all,

I want to upgrade my crap flow stock GSR header, and was anticipating a DC JDM unit... but due to importation costs... the header's on hold.

I'd rather take some flow to upgrade my brakes... but don't want to break the bank with a $400+ header... so my local options (not in US) are downgraded to the following:

1) Crush Bent local header, it's CHEEP, bigger than stock... but it's crush bent !
2) PaceSetter or Chikara header, cheaper than DC and still bigger than stock
3) Buy an OEM ITR header for cheap and make due with the slight restriction, but bigger than stock gSR.

**Note, I will be running a stock design exhaust for the street and will eventually add an e-cutout for the track. (I drag once or twice a month at track)

Please help with intelligent input.
X2

You can pick up the DC JDM for less than $300, and you can't get much cheaper than that.

Edit: never mind- just saw your location dilemma.
Don't get the Chikara-stock is better. Save your money and wait until you can afford to get a decent header shipped to you.

'm interested in finding out the answer to this as well. I've seen "mass produced" headers for sale at around 3 different price ranges...approximatly $150, $350, and $500. What makes the $350 so much better than the $150 and so inferior to the $500? If I was planning on turboing in the futrue, should I "waste" my money on a more expensive header?

i have a KOS header. its 4-1 with 2.5" collector. it is the best buy IMO as far as header.

the JDM 4-1 is nice but the KOS flows much better. This is not an ad, just saying that you can pick one up at Stage2 Performance. They have a banner on Honda-Tech or just pm me so i can forward you the email or phone number.

I pick number 3.

Out of 3 options I would get the OEM ITR.
Get a skidplate, and you're good.

like i said, KOS is the way to go IMO. the performance of a $900 header for the fraction of the price.

Crush bent's crap and so is Chikara...I bought one to save a few bucks on my B17, after the gasket blew out, I ended up putting the stock one back on and damned if it wasn't faster (the stock one)...Chikara is restrictive CRAP, torque-stepped and all. GO ITR........

look in the classifieds for a usdm spec dc header. have the colletor cut off and have a 2.5" pipe rewelded in place of it.

I got my dc used for 150.

Or, you can get one of those SSAutochrome 4-1 stainless steel headers from EBAY for less than $200. They are somewhat similar to the DC 4-1 type.
