I found a really mint one. No rust and interior is near perfect
new brakes and tires & full oem replacement exhaust with cat
1986 civic si hb RED
with only 109k on it
2nd owner
-no rust
-no dents
-no craked glass
-great interior
What would be a fair price to offer?
I was honestly thinking NO MATTER how clean it was ... around the $600 to $900 MAX range.

If it's as nice as you say, with zero problems...I'd go as high as $2,000. I'm not alone in my valuation. There are people out there that will pay more finely preserved examples of these cars. The value has bottomed out and the nice ones that are left are starting to appreciate modestly.
Think about it...how much would it cost you to get the average 86si hatchback to the same condition? I paid $500 for my tired but running 87 RT4wd wagon. And I've put at least two grand in "restoration". And it still needs a paint job.
Honda-tech seems to attract lowballers so take any advice, including my own, with a grain of salt

You also have to think about the demand of these vehicles. not much. The average consumer won't want one cause its an 86 and would not pay alot for a car made in 86 casue its not worth it. Than there is the import crowd. Most will shun it cause its an 86 and theres not as much support for a 3g as there is for a 4g. The fact that SOME think its a "collectors" car is very debatable
Trending Topics
Calling it a collector car is a little premature, however, there is a core group of enthusiasts that will snap up prime examples and they're willing to pay several times the general publics perceived value. That's how collector status starts.
You've got two people in this very short thread that would pay way more than 700 bucks. How debatable is that?

They are good race cars if you know what to do with them. They run on th same chassis as the CRX Si and you can swap the ECU for an 86-89 teg ECU and you can lower the front as far as you want just by turning a couple of bolts. You can also put the 86-89 Integra powerplant with no modification. I must warn you to check the hard-points (where you jack it up) on the car. Probably worth anywhere from $1000 to 1500. If the hard-points are shot, then it isn't even worth $500 bucks.
Well, you're right...it's a minority.
That's probably why I said "core group of enthusiasts"...implying not many.
But if you think it isn't a growing trend, you're mistaken.

he is not a 3rd gen lover (unless I missed something) I'd offer $900 if that is the amount of money you have and the car is double your pleasurment, double your merriment, double the moment of fun!
