i have a custom kit and try to change the oil every 3000 miles with 5w-30 castrol synthetic. Although in 3000 miles i normally add a few quarts of oil to the engine so it doesnt look that dirty by the time i change it..

1.) Type of kits do not matter. All turbochargers need the same treatment to maintain a long life.

2.) It is said that turbo'd cars should have their oil changed every 2500 miles. Never go more than 3000miles.. this is critical.

3.) Never wait for oil to turn black regardless if you are turbo'd or not. Black oil suggests a dirty engine.. dirty engines decrease performance.. especially on turbo cars.

Just stick to changing your oil every 2500 miles. Use a Honda filter.. most other filters are crap. Some people say that using thin synthetic oil is great for turbos cuz the seal clearances in the turbo are small. This is a bad misconception. Turbo's generate alot of heat.. heat breaks down oil. Get a heavier set oil when turbocharging. If you prefer light oil, then change your oil VERY often.

I change my oil every 1500 - 2000 miles. I run my car hard at the track and it is a daily driver! I run Royal Purple motor oil and tranny fluid!

I try to change my oil every 3,000 miles and it is still pretty clean at this mileage. I have gone to about 4,000 miles and it was pretty dirty. By the way I use Mobil 1 10w30
