Dented JDM 4-1 Header (Should I fix???) Pictures
I dented my header sometime without even knowing it. I got under the car last night to change my knock sensor and saw what you see below. Should/Can this be fixed? I searched H-T and saw a few articles but not sure if the damage on those was this great. Thanks in advance.

i had my previous header dented in the same way, maybe worse. it worked fine and i pulled the same #s on the dyno with and without the dents. so you should be fine, if anything just wait till you upgrade and use that money.
Thanks for the input. I just dropped it off at a local Maxi Muffler, they are gonna fix both pipes and put on a skid plate for 100 bucks. Can't beat that even if the numbers are the same, its the peace of mind that counts.

ouch. ya my buddy dented his just like that. the dent is just as deep but about 3 1/2 inches long. he says it lags a lot now. and it does feel a bit slower. hes got a b16. rewelded itr header. now i can weld so i told him id fix it for him. i was thinkin plasma cut the dent out and re weld a plate over it? or how should i fix it? we were also talking about replacing the whole piping.
Holy crap that thing got rocked.
Damn, my car is ******* dumped and my header has barely even a scratch on it. I would hope after it's fixed that the #'s will increase. That dent has got to be restricting flow.

Damn, that thing took a hit.
I didn't know they could fix dented headers. That's good to know since mine is a bit dented as well.
This is just a thought. If they do make a skid plate for a header that already hangs pretty low, and then you hit something. Wouldn't that put all the stress on the front of the head/stud/nut?

Good point, but IF they tie it into the chassis somewhere you wont have to worry too much.

i hope you have more that one car with a header or you have used multiple headers on one car....

a friend of mine pulled out a similar dent buy drilling some holes in the dented area . it was then heated and used a slide hammer with an L shaped attachment. looked like a allen wrench .took the dent out and welded up the holes .wasnt the cleanest repair but it works.
cant it do damage to the engine with the header that restricted, mine is mad fuc*ed up too, maybe worse. I have been scared to go about 6k because I dont want the exhaust gasket to blow out or some internal damage or something. Someone told me that having two flow normally and two flowing tainted is even worse for the engine, doesnt seem plausible to me but....who knows...any input?
I wouldn't have purchased my ITR header if fastline performance didn't make a custom skid plate for it.

heh, I find it funny that you can put the same numbers on the dyno before/after a dent like that(or worse dent as said).
nutty.

i got mine from a buddy pre dented. seems to make plenty of power and the previous owner replaced it with a new one and didnt make any difference in power for him so i guess its not that bad. i made 177hp and 125tq so im happy
