STOLEN 2ooo SI - Im in da club
Hey everyone, I'am sad to say that my 2000 Honda Civic EBP Si was stolen on 2/25/04 (My bday!) in San Bernardino,CA. It was recovered the next day, boy was it nasty! It is missing: ENGINE, TRANNY, FRONT n REAR LIGHTS, DOORS, BASICALLY ALL INTERIOR PARTS. Plus to top it off, it was crashed. Insurance has the car now, here is my problem: Car had a salvaged title (theft) and had full coverage from FARMERS, so how much do yall think I'll get? It had 36200 miles on it, clean, just painted 2wks ago, 17inch rims, I/H/P ... im pretty sure its totalled, correct me if you think im wrong. I bought it for 11k a 1.5 yr ago, and im worried of gettn screwed by insurnace.
depends what they say the cost is to fix the car back to were you had it. if damage is more than the blue book + mods (receipts), then you'll get the blue book value and it'll be considered salvage

So I would KBB price? or a SALVAGED KBB? </TD></TR></TABLE>
You'd get whatever Farmers insured and valued it at. If they are aware of it being salvaged, which Im sure they do, you might be in trouble.
You paid 11.5k for a theft recovery 2000 si?

I paid 11k, i know ripped. Well on a sheet that farmers sent to my dad, one of the questions asked if the car has been previously stolen/salvaged, I guess we have to say yes. I just dont wanna get like 5k for a car I paid 11k for and Im paying (my dad is the regs. owner, and driver) 800 bills every 6 months insurance (full coverage). Its a messy situation ... I pray to god to help me get kbb price.

I dunno dude, don't cars with salvage titles have a really low values? Like wouldn't your car be valued at 7k or something causa the salvage title? I've seen SI's with clean titles selling for 11k. Anyway, I only know what i've read on this board but im pretty sure you're not going to be making back your 11k. Sorry, hope im wrong.
Yeah I know, it sucks ..... I've heard of some1 on these boards or clubsi.com get full kbb for a salvaged si, but I guess it depends on my insurance. It would suck bolla's, cuz i would loose like 4-6k, thats not counting stuff money invested in car...
Hate to break it to you but.............I would venture to say if I was the insurer to only give you bluebook salvage price. Thats what the car is worth, plain and simple. Pray you have a good adjuster or company to back you. But there was a guy here who bought one for 4k put like 6k into it, sold the car to someone who never asked the title info. They paid I think 12.5k, the insurer would only cover up to I think 6-7. Maybe less.
sorry to tell you this i know it's painful man i hate thieves. but i think when a car is salvaged it is automatically worth only half of the blue book value. i hope you get hooked up. damn si's i am so scared my car is going to get stolen too.
My brothers EBP SI with Salvage title was stolen a few months ago, it had about the same mileage with I/H/E and he got almost $18k from insurance. It was USAA though and they take good care of their clients.

well first off, sorry you had to join the club (im not a member... as of yet) not sure why you spent so much on a salvaged title, also not sure why your insurance company were happy to cover the car with full coverage. usually if they know the car has a salvaged title the best you will get it liability. but i guess there are exceptions to the rule. good for you...
now as to what your covered:
1. guaranteed to be covered on all oem parts. thats a given
2. as far as aftermarket parts you are covered to a certain point. some will only cover up to$1,000 in parts,
a)some will cover all parts with a payout of a certain % per $ spent on the parts.
b) and some will not cover any aftermarket parts.
so hopefully your insurance company will give you what its worth. but realize if any information you provided to them is wrong for example... you never told them it was a salvaged vehicle and they dont cover those cars with full insurance you will not get anything and may be dropped from their policy...
so make sure you put the truth before you sign that paper.. and update all information....let us know what happens

No, it is whatever the insurance company thinks it is worth. Depends on car but usually around 70% of blue book. When trying to get a loan from a bank they will usually only loan half of retail value.

That's what I would guess also. No offense, but why you paid $11k for a salvaged SI is ridiculous to me.

It depends on the insurance, some will give you just what you payed for it with a salvage title. If not they'll most likely give you salvaged KBB value. Which is roughly 1500-1800$ less then regualr KBB value.
