doors popping
i am probably gonna have to just deal with it, but on my 89 CRX the things that hold the doors open pop when i open the door. i was wondering if there was a way to make it stop. i was thinking if i just took the pin out and pushed the thing back into the door then i would be fine. i can't get the pin out though, and i also would like to see if that would work before i do it.
thanks
thanks

That is the problem unless you got the too common door catch tear were the metal actually tears apart and if that happens its pretty much impossible to fix it permenetly.

these don't hold the door closed all they are there for is to hold the door open when you open it if you are parked on a hill or something
so i don't see how letting the wind catch it would do anything but close the door back when you have it opened

I had that done to mine - welded back in place...and the popping even with a new pin in place doesn't help...I also have brand new hinges and have the door perfectly aligned and I still get the noise. Unfortunately it seems to be something one just has to deal with.

take out your pins and push the thing back into the door, not all the way inside the door leave it hanging out enought to were you can pull it back out if you want to put it back together, and it will not pop any more and it will work just fine seriously, just listen to me.

When mine did that I took out the speaker in the door. With it out of the way you can unbolt the section that is within the door. That way it still functions as a catch, but without the two stage open and close. Kinda hard to explain but u will know when your are in the door.
Having that pin out does allow the door to extend further though so you may run into problems with over-extending it and possibly damaging a fender or the door itself. I usually take that pin out to open up the door further to get to the top corner bolt on the fender.

Imagine having the wind push the door open farther.
