Reverse JDM header review
Well Im selling my car, and am trying to get it closer to stock (basically removing I/H/E since I dont want to swap the tranny!) I found a local guy selling an ITR exhaust manifold and cat from his 97. Great, that will bolt right up to my aftermarket ITR exhaust! So I took off my trusty ceramic coated JDM header and 2.5 inch test pipe (smog? whats that?) and installed the stock ITR bits. So you know, my car is a GSR. Stock motor, just I/H/E, tranny (B16 1-4, LS 5, ITR LSD, B16 case), clutch and flywheel. But that ITR manifold, supposedly is better than a GSR manifold.
HOLY CRAP! My car is slow! It feels so bad. VTEC is a noise, theres no extra power felt. The car is so quiet. It doesn't feel as sporty to drive.
Now I did get the double whamey by installing a manifold AND cat, but jeez! That header is awesome! Imagine what it does to an ITR if it makes such a difference in a GSR. I noticed considerable losses over the entire power band. But you can really feel the losses from 4.4k and up (GSR VTEC x-over).
Cliffontes: Get a 4-1 header with a 2.5 inch collector. Its worth it.
